Feeling Happy

Fourth annual homeschool Prom

This is the first year Mandy will be attending a Homeschool Prom, although she has been to three proms so far at various high schools. She has also been to homecoming dances, sweetheart dances, and other fun dances. Mandy has a few lovely dresses, but I might try to make Daddy spring for yet another one since she has slimmed down to a size five...For the Prom last year, Anise, the woman who cuts my hair and whom Mandy used to work for, insisted that Mandy wear  one of the bridesmaid dresses from her Bridal shop---it was about four hundred dollars and Mandy looked stunning.

This is one of the things homeschoolers are always asked, "But what about Prom?  Aren't your children going to miss going to dances?"  My daughter has attended at least five dances so far this year---four at local high schools, and one homeschool Valentine's Day dance.  Lori also sent me a link for another homeschool prom in Lexington.

I think this one is a pretty good deal, since the meal is included...

Mandy is a popular date for dances at high schools because she is so outgoing and not at all shy.  Some of the dances she has gone to have been with "just friends."  This year she will be attending with Derrick.

BTW, Shelby Lynn does not call Derrick by his name. She calls him "My Boy."  Tonight when Mandy came in from her Saturday night date, Derrick had stopped at Cracker Barrel to buy the little girls huge suckers. :-)

Shelby grabbed hers and looked at said to Mandy, "My Boy. Not Mandy's boy.  My Boy."

Do you read Lori's journal?  They are homeschoolers and also don't believe in dating, only courtship.

Our "dating" basically means a boy hangs out at our house day and night.  ROFL

Mandy has just now, at seventeen, started going somewhere at night in a car...

Interesting concept, "homeschooling danes", I never have given it a thought because I was never allowed to go to dances when I was in school, so I figure my kids aren't missing a darn thing, besides we don't believe in dating , LOL
thank you for visiting my journal!! I'm returning the courtesy! thanks!!!

I remember my proms being fairly expensive (because they included a nice catered dinner). I wrote about them. LOL Senior prom was WAY better than Junior. Glad to see that the homeschool kids get to go to dances too. That was one of the most fun things I remember from high school.
