Feeling Anxious
More of my wild babies are free!
Dave took the girls to King's Island today. I stayed home to get some work done in the basement, but snuck up here to write a tiny bit. Let that be our little secret, okay? LOL
For the past few days I have been letting the baby Red Eared Slider Turtles bask in the sun in the back yard in a small container, bringing them in at night. Today I let them go in the upper part of the pond, thinking I'd get them out near sundown. Well, they had gotten into the deep part of the pond, sliding down the waterfall, and for better or worse, they are out in the back yard for the summer (or until we can catch them.)
I am worrying about them. Will they be warm enough at night? Can a raccoon catch them? Is there enough to eat in there?
If I am this bad letting baby turtles and pigeons go, what will I be like when my children leave home? GULP
DooDoo the pigeon has been seen several times! Pigeons stay basically in the same territory, and we see him often on the neighbor's roof. He is unmistakable because of the angle of his wing. My throat felt tight when the whole flock took off to fly around, and he sat on the roof watching them. Like any mom, I did not want him to be left out. Then, later, they landed back on the roof and he flew down to the feeding area. So I suppose he flies when he has to and watches the rest of the time. But he is Free, as God intended.
update: I saw one of the baby turtles terrorizing my Goldfish (that are five times its size) trying to bite the tail. I might have to get the wee monsters out of there to save the Goldfish. Buford looked so happy, though, acting like a wild turtle instead of a captive creature.
