"Idaho" (stolen horse) alert:  three week old foal stolen from mother's side

Someone cut the wire from a fence and stole this three week old foal from her mother.  The "Idaho" stolen horse alert system has sent out the following picture and asks people to be on the lookout for this poor baby, who is way too young to be taken from her mother.

IDAHO ALERT - Washington State - Stolen APHA 3 Week Old Filly - Spice

The EPN in partnership with Stolen Horse International, SHI, distributes through the EPN online announcement only newsletter stolen horse alerts known as "Idaho Alerts" named after SHI's founder Debi and Harold Metcalfe's beloved horse Idaho, who was stolen in 1997. The Metcalfe's utilized the power of the Internet & the volunteer effort of thousands of people from around the world who helped the Metcalfe's in their desperate search for Idaho. Their efforts paid off almost a year to the day of Idaho's theft when a flyer posted in a convenience store led to the discovery of their beloved Idaho in another state. SHI was born out of the Metcalfe's desire to help other horse owners who were also the victims of horse theft.Today SHI is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that boasts a recovery rate of 51% for stolen horses that have been reported stolen to SHI within one day of being stolen. Please join the EPN & SHI in helping to bring stolen horses home to their rightful owners!

When you receive an Idaho Alert pass the Alert on to as many of your friends, family & co-workers as you can.
Print out the Idaho Alert flyer & post it anywhere people may see it. SHI flyers posted in convenience stores, beauty salons, grocery stores & horse auctions have led to the recovery of stolen horses, often several states away from the original theft. Contact your state's equine council, state and national horse organizations & ask them to join the Idaho Alert System. Make sure to visit SHI's website to view more flyers of stolen horses.

Please post to your groups:  Thank you for supporting victims and SHI through your group.

notes: Hello...
Last night someone broke into my horse pens and stole my 3 week old paint filly. I just can not believe that someone would steal a baby, and not take the mare. We hope to find her but I just don't know. I am
located in the Yakima valley of Washington. Just wanted to put the word out there, keep a close eye on them babies. We called the Sheriff and they have pictures of the filly, so maybe they will be of some
help.

What a great system to assist in finding this precious baby!  What kind of knucklehead would do such a thing?  Awful...just awful!  And the poor momma horse!  Lisa

That is very sad...but hopefully they will find it.  I didn't know an organization like that was out there...I will keep that in mind with my own horse.

This is really sad. I saw today on Animal Planet where two teenage boys stole two koalas (I think from a zoo) to give to one of the boy's ex-girlfriends in hopes of winning her back. The show was telling about how critical it is for a koala to stay in it's environment to live, how much sleep it had to have and that it could only eat eucalyptus leaves, etc. Fortunately, these koalas were found. I hope this foal is found, as well.
