Feeling Happy
Asian Culture Fest
• Next: 4/23 , 2:00PM-4:00PM; Cinergy Children's Museum
1301 Western Ave
Cincinnati, OH 45203
513-287-7000
• Click here for a complete schedule
For two days, the rotunda of the Cincinnati Museum Center is transformed into an Asian marketplace for a worldly weekend of tradition, learning and -- but of course! -- shopping. Have you ever heard the sweet strains of a Japanese koto? Seen and really understood tai chi and the stories behind spiritual Indian dances? Cultural displays highlighting the traditions of China, Taiwan, India, Japan, Vietnam and Korea will enlighten and entertain -- and you don't even need a passport. Don't be afraid to let the kids bring a friend: Admission is free and numerous activities are geared towards the pint-sized. They include "make and take" crafts, such create-your-own paper dragons; learning how to write in Japanese and Chinese; trying on saris and kimonos; storytelling; and dance lessons, which are open to the whole family. Jewelry, baskets, textiles and more are for sale, and for those continuing on to the museum, the Monkey King exhibit -- geared toward 5- to 12-year-olds, is a must-see. -- Nancy Ray

"Seen and really understood tai chi "
after nine years of tai chi training, I still don't understand it. :-)
