Feeling Happy

Bonsai Exhibition

My whole family has been fascinated by bonsai trees for many years. We usually get the opportunity to admire them at the Krohn's Conservatory, but we attended a lovely exhibition of them at the Cincinnati Zoo today.

All of the men who were volunteering at the event were very friendly. One man in particular went out of his way to welcome Tabitha to join the Cincinnati Bonsai Society, and I believe we will. David has long wanted to have bonsai. We have purchased them at Lowes and other garden centers only to have them die rapidly. They were not true bonsai.

The skilled gardeners at the Bonsai Exhibition told us that those places give them a bad name.

Bonsai are to be kept outside all year around.  One of my husband's friends has many of them in his yard.  I would love to have some in my yard, but somehow keep them safe from children who might damage them.

Perhaps I could suspend the pots from the deck. ROFL

Bonsai is pronounced "Bone-sigh".

What a great variety that you were able to see! We have a group of enthusiasts near here and maybe when I retire, I can try my hand at this beautiful craft!  I hope Tabitha will join and learn all about it, then you can share it with us!  Lisa

My hubby has always wanted some bonsai, but alas, with a handicap wife and two kids, he has no time ,LOL, so he admires others.... um others Bonsai, not kids or wives ;-)
