Feeling Mischievous

Hobo slang

OHNS: A Dictionary of Old Hobo Slang -by Stephen P. Alpert

This came on one of my homeschooling resource lists. I spent a happy twenty minutes endlessly entertained by the colorful venacular.

I should dig out our little paper back of loggers lingo (if we still have it) How many people can say with a straight face that their father was a "hooker?' As in hook tender or crew boss. So far I've found two. And they're older than I am. LOL

this reminded me of a boxcar that I used to see on my way to school, before the green trees and bushes covered it.  There is a red boxcar that is sitting in a small field, just rusting away.  I told my children about ti and they wanted me to go and look and make sure there were no children living in it! The kids dragged out all  our Boxcar Children books!  I will have to show them the hobo site!
