Feeling Sad

I am working for Satan??

  In a message dated 6/15/2005 1:10:44 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, Thomaskj056 writes:
I understood your point. My point is . . . God does not advertise the devil's work for the whole world to see, Satan does. You're working for the devil.

Well, we differ on that viewpoint then.   Quakers have been famous for the whole time we have been in existence--much longer than most other Protestant religions--for refusing to pretend that Evil does not exist. We started the abolitionist movement in this country against slavery, at a time when the Southern Baptist church supported the enslavement of black humans by white humans. (The Baptist church split over this issue, as did the Presbyterian church).  We started the suffrage movement in this country as well, knowing that women deserved the vote.  We won the Nobel prize in WWII for helping Jews escape the Nazis.  We have been very active in civil rights, and now are very active in stopping capital punishment. The Quakers were very active in the Underground Railroad. We were--and are--very against this war, where innocent people are being killed.  We are a Peace religion.

The reason why I became a Quaker was that I wanted a Faith where actions speak louder than words--and where integrity means standing on your own two feet and saying what is right, even if the mainstream society does not support you.   I have a responsibility to tell the world when injustice happens.    I have a responsibility to speak the truth about how Christ is being marketed by both sides.

I am not working for the Devil.

Judge not, lest thee be judged.   love, Kas

In a message dated 6/15/2005 2:32:40 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, Thomaskj056 writes:

I'm not doing the judging. The Holy Spirit of God is writing this through me. God does not advertise the work of the devil . . . Satan does.   If you want to please God, a better message would be something uplifting, some positive faith affirmation, for the lost souls of the world to grab onto. It is better not to look toward evil but to look toward God and share what He's up to.   When you reach a point in your walk of faith. . . when God trusts you . . . He tells you depths of truth to share with others. God does not dishonor the Virgin Mary by posting such a picture. This decision of yours to post this picture does not have God's approval . . . He is telling me so.   If you want to argue about this matter, take it up with God Himself, not me.

I wrote that "Quite frankly, your arrogance astounds me."

In a message dated 6/15/2005 2:44:03 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, Thomaskj056 writes:
That's self-confidence . . . God's. We're supposed to be humble enough to be corrected. Are you?

>>>>On Saturday The Baptist Church the girls have been attending had their annual rummage sale. I sent up several bags of stuff to donate. It is good to get stuff out of the house to make room for Darren--and to bless others with stuff we don't use anymore.      While I was there the very nice preacher tried to get me to come to his Sunday services.  (This is the same man who told the other child that her lesbian mothers were going to burn in Hell. )  Remaining gentle and polite, I told him that I do not believe many of the things his church does, and he looked puzzled.  He asked me to explain, so I told him that I support rights for homosexuals, and I am very against the war, and I did not vote for Bush...He told me that politics does not come into church, and to not let "Social issues get in the way of my spiritual ones".   I needed to leave (Shelby had to pee) but later I realized what I should have said.

Social issues ARE spiritual ones!

Wow. If he is seriously thinking he hears the voice of God, someone needs to up his medication. Or the nice men in their white coats need to give him some lovely thorazine and put him in a cumfy padded room.  (p.s. to the freak with voices in his head...stay away from me. I am already saved and I don't need any more crazies in my life. I have enough in my own family.)  ;-)

Jesus Christ is the greatest example of someone who stood up against injustice and for the "least of these."  I completely agree with you.  -Kari
