Feeling Happy

Good News!

I'm not diabetic!!  Initially when my gestational diabetes did not go away after I gave birth to Shelby Lynn, the doctors thought I had Type II.  But today a whole new battery of tests said I am not diabetic---or else I am controlling it so well with my diet I don't need to worry.

We had a lively day.  I drove to my doctor's appointment since it was so hot.  The children had planned to play in the huge grassy field while I was in the office, but at ninety five degrees they got hot and went back to the van.  Of course, they played the radio, and the battery was dead when I came out. So, we walked home. Fortunately I had the stroller in the back.

On the way, we stopped at Goodwill. I have really slowed down on my thrift shopping, but it was fifty percent off everything today. All the kids--even Courtney--ended up picking out clothes. I got a wonderful set of fourteen Depression Glass plates for---drumroll please--fifty cents each!  They are beautiful! I also got a way cool vintage storage thing to hold maps and posters. I don't know what to call it. I will have to post photos.

At the doctor's office a woman came up to me and told me that Tabitha was just beautiful, absolutely adorable. She did look cute today, a mini-Goth, with a fake pierced lip that looks like she is a fish on a hook. And a Goodwill another woman gushed over how smart she was.

Tabby told me cynically that they were probably worried about the lip ring and wanted to boost her self esteem.

I found Darren a pair of those shoes that turn into roller skates. He was so tickled with them. He skated all the way home. His grandfather has told him he can stay the summer with us but he is not sure what will happen when school starts on August 16th.
