Feeling Happy

The Day after Hurricane Ophelia

I still have about two hundred vacation pictures.  I recommend hitting "view larger" and then slideshow.

All week long we were waiting for the Hurricane to hit the part of the Outer Banks we were staying on.  Ophelia was moving so slowly--about three miles per hour--that every day we were there the day she was supposed to hit Corolla was moved back.  Ophelia did swing out the sea and churned up the coastline, but it was like a regular storm for us.  Walking the shoreline later that evening was fascinating. The sand was almost obscured by all the seaweed. There was a lot of shells and mermaid purses washed up. Tabitha rescued as many as she could that were still unhatched. None of us ventured far out into the water, even shin deep the rip tide was deadly and would drag you sideways.
