Feeling Happy
Outer Banks Press: Winged Horse Extravaganza
The girls and I were enchanted by all the statues of winged horses on the OuterBanks. We bought a children's book about the winged horses and also an (expensive) poster to frame that depicted many of the horses we saw . I am planning on buying them the soft cover book about the exhibit for Christmas (shhhh).
From the website:
"While many feel that winged horses are a natural fit for this regional art exhibit, others question our choice. We at Outer Banks Press wanted an icon that would represent a beloved feature of our barrier islands, and we wanted to incorporate an element of flight into that icon. Since our northern beaches are home to what's purported to be one of the largest herds of Spanish mustangs still remaining in the wild, we didn't have to look far for a suitable image that for us symbolizes freedom, beauty, endurance, strength and tenacity. By adding wings, our project took flight."

Here, locally, in Cincinnati a few years ago they had Flying Pigs all over town since CIncinnati used to be called Porkopolis...they were really cute.

I enjoyed all of your entries this morning and last night. I am entirely not awake enough to leave you a comment on each but know that I did read and enjoy.

In Buffalo they statues of several decorated Buffalos all over the city. I thought it was cool but I see they are not alone in this idea.
