The Salt Festival at Big Bone Lick State Park
Salt Festival
I spent most of Friday resting and in bed, exhausted after all the out patient testing, the Writer's Group, and a nasty UTI caught from being repeatedly catherized. I had planned on resting most of Saturday before we head down to the caves, but Tabby and Mandy decided they HAD to go to the Salt Festival with Clan Desdin. They engaged in a bit of creative manipulation to get there. :-)
They told David I said we were going, they told me HE said we were going, and somehow I found myself gathering up bits and pieces of our costumes and heading out to a re-enactment.
It was the first re-enactment David had ever been to. He had fun! Shelby got to ride the ponies, and David spent a long time talking to a Viet Nam vet at the playground before heading over for the feast. We feasted on delicious turkey and walked slowly around the encampment with the Greyhounds.
I felt rather like molassas was in my veins, dragging myself around just part of the encampment before basically eating and spending an undue amount of time in the outhouses (probably more information than you want.) As soon as I got home I called the hospital and they called in a prescription for me. I don't want to be sick at Mammoth Cave!
I am hoping that David will want to join in the camping so that I can go to more events. I would love to see him in a kilt, but the men reassured him that he would not have to wear a kilt.
On the way home Shelby said enthusiastically that "This was a good night together!"
Atticus did disgrace himself by annointing one of the Laird's model sheep. I washed it off, rather embarrassed.

Oh that looked like lots of fun. I have everything to dress except a bedgown. I am praying that I can get one by next spring. I have an outfit for Emma and can figure something out for the wee one. Oh and men in kilts. Mmmm. Lovely. I hope your UTI goes away pronto. Get some rest.
Are you coming down this way this week?
