Feeling Happy

Happy Days are here again :-)

The difference between sex and death is that with death you can do it alone and no one is going to make fun of you. -- Woody Allen

I slept almost all day, but the girls would bubble in and show me the things they created.  Today was their monthly class at The Beadery.  I had called the owner (her daughter is a good friend of my children, not a homeschooled child, but one who practically has lived here on and off for the past six years).  I had told her my girls would like to learn more challenging projects and that they could spend more money than the usual (very reasonable) five dollar class fee.  They came home , thrilled with the beautiful earrings they were able to create. I will have to take some pictures of them.  I am so happy that they are self confident and proud of their artistic abilities. When I was a young girl I used to love to draw and create art, but somehow by middle school I was convinced I was untalented and stopped.  I am so glad that their Inner Artist has made them unafraid to try to create new things.  They can show their beadwork in 4-H if they so chose, and even sell some at the re-enactments, but the most important thing is the way they were so proud of the beauty they created.

Then, they went to the first night of vaulting. It is a match made in heaven--combing two loves into one.  They do gymnastics on horseback!  The vaulting team owns their own horse, a lovely Belgian mare named Jubilee.  I cannot wait until I can go, too.  Tabby was thrilled to show me the moves she learned on horseback.  Derek, the darling, drove the girls out there for me and has promised to take them whenever I need them to. The only problem we have with them being on the vaulting team is that it is conflicting with the Writer's Group (Thursday nights) and the upcoming Geography Fair.  We are going to move the Writer's Group and the girls may have to miss the Geography Fair, since they have made a firm commitment to the vaulting team. But they were so happy!

It is good to see that things are finally looking up for our rather beleagured family.  I am still looking for a good therapist for Mandy and Tabby to help them deal with the molestation of Mandy by the Molester.  I am also trying to find time alone with Tabby to take her scrapbooking (our health club has three Stamping up classes coming up).

Other exciting news is that some time in the next month, after Mandy has adjusted to the addition of a job to her life, is that she is going to begin taking GED classes at the local Alternative School.  The director of the program is the wife of Jack Kerley, a friend whose books have been best sellers. :-)  Jack used to be one of my Tai Chi students. Mandy will get one-on-one attention, and can take as long as she likes preparing for the tests.  I think it would be a nice, slow transition to more formal schooling if she decides to go to college.

Sounds like your family is keeping busy and that they are truly happy.  :)

Yay!  I can see you again!  I've missed reading you'all.  Sorry about all the trouble you've been having, but delighted that things are looking much better for you now!
