beavers!

Ah, tax return time....the time of year when my husband's frame of mind turns to vacation.  He just made reservations for our next vacation---a cabin outside of Colorado Springs that overlooks a beaver dam!  We are already pulling out books on beavers (I had several in our home library). By the time we get there, we will be more than ready to observe these large rodents at work.  Tabitha got an excellent pair of binoculars from The Boy for Christmas as part of her Spy Arsenal, and we already had an antique pair.  The excitement of exploring the beautiful Colorado countryside palls next to the excitement of living next to a beaver lodge for a week!  We will be going in May, while it may still be quite chilly out there.

Shelby keeps running around saying she is a little beaver....hehehe

Colorado is the only western US state I haven't been to, other than a layover in Denver or two.  And those don't count!  I am looking forward to going someday.

    Woo hoo!  Can't wait!
I remember spending hours and days watching a beaver lodge until one day I was finally able to photograph the elusive creature.  A closer inspection of my picture would later reveal that my 'beaver' was in fact a muskrat!  Oh well, the lodge is once again showing signs of use so maybe I'll spot one this spring.  If not, I'll just visit you at the cabin when you get to town and we'll watch them together.
