Feeling Happy

It's Girl Scout cookie time again!

There I sit, looking pleasantly domesticated. In fact, I seldom sew.  About the only sewing I have done this past year is sewing badges on Mandy and Tabby's Girl Scout vests and jackets.  But look closely at the picture!  One unexpected but not unwelcome side effect of the surgery is that I lost enough weight that I once again have cheekbones.  I have been pretty plump the past three years.

I spent about three nights ironing and sewing on patches for the girls.  Tabby's little friend Samantha wanted Tabby to join her Girl Scout troop so badly, and Tabby missed being in Laura's troop after it folded. So, even though it is a school Girl Scout Group, I got the information and called the leader. She was a very nice woman, so on Wednesday Tabby went to her first meeting.

When she called me to pick her up, she was bubbling over with excitement. Last year we met a couple at a pet store....the man was in a wheelchair, and they were waiting for a bus. They had just purchased a rat for a pet, and when we stopped to admire their new fur-baby, they learned we had ratties, too. We ended up stopping at our house and giving them our odd-eyed, Dumbo eared female, and then giving them a ride home to the next town. When we got to their apartment, we met all their cockatiels. They breed them. Our families liked each other, and I was happy that we had given them a ride home and saved them two bus rides, with transferring.  Since they lived in the next town over, we never ran into them again.

Small world. The wife is Tabby's new Leader!  Tabby is delighted, and we just stood there beaming at each other...what was so strange was that I had only met them the one time in my whole life, and I had dreamed about them the night before (all those immaculate cages lining the wall appeared in my dream)...

So now Tabby and Sammy are busy selling Girl Scout cookies....MMMM.....Thin Mints, here I come...

That's so neat!  I can tell the difference in your face!   You look great.  My mom is getting a hysterectomy soon because of extreme excessive periods.  They've been bad for years, but she recently began getting really tired, and they found that her hemoglobin was so low, that she had to get a blood transfusion.  Since she's 47 and likely to be menopausal soon anyway, they decided removing everything was best way to get her better.  She's very scared of the hospital because she feels the hospital staff killed my father.  I wouldn't put it so directly, but I agree with her that he may have lived if they had not been so negligent, so I understand her fears, and share in them somewhat.  I also think about you and all the pain you've been through, and that worries me too.  Mom has a business to run, but no kids to care for, and only one easy going dog.  Plus she has my brother and I who only live a couple minutes away to help, so the only thing that will really impede her from getting the rest she needs is the business.  Sorry for the book on YOUR blog, lol.  Like you always say, people like to tell you everthing.  :)

They have changed the color!!  It is really kind of strange, especially since we have some old uniform pieces and some newer ones!
