Irish Step dancing

Three weeks ago Tabitha started Irish step dancing lessons. Her teacher is from Dublin and has a lovely lilting voice.

Her teacher Hazel always spends some time alone with each girl.  Tabby adores her, and spent two weeks coloring a velvet Celtic cross for her.

Tabitha loves the class, and plays a lot of Celtic music at home and step dances all around the house. She is busy teaching Sammy and some of her neighborhood friends from church and Girl Scouts what she learns so she will have a partner at home. :-)  One of the other mothers always says that Tabby looks like she has been doing it all her life.  I wouldn't go that far, but it does seem as though it speaks to her soul. She has been listening to Celtic and Bluegrass music since she was born, so maybe that is it. I enjoy the class because I love the music, watching my wee lass dance, and the great conversation with the other parents--most of whom are homeschoolers. Tabby is happy that her friend True is in the class (that is how we learned about it).

Irish step dancing

It does make our Wednesdays rather full---Girl Scouts and the Church youth group are also on Wednesdays, but the time alone with Tabby in the car on the way there and back is valuable to me.  Since our exceptionally emotionally rough autumn, all the kids were showing signs of mental stress. I have been arranging to have as much time alone with each child as I can now that I am stronger, and it seems to be paying off. Shelby is currently the most emotionally volatile, but a month ago Tabby was the most stressed.  Mandy was a wreck before I had surgery....I think I read once it takes at least twice as long to recover from rough times as the actual event, so I am thinking it will be ten months before the usual equilibrium of my family is restored.

Fortunately, my husband has really perked up the last two weeks and has been bringing me flowers and little treats. It is very nice to have my sweet man back as well.

I'm so glad that Tabby is enjoying the dancing.  Looks like fun.  Hopefully, your family will even out sooner than 10 months but if not I'm glad your hubby is back to himself!

Is that the picture that Tabitha worked on? She does beautiful work and the color combination is wonderful. Just tracing the knotwork is great for meditation.
