USDA current recommendations for protective eqipment for the bird flu

Personal Protective Equipment - Personal Protective Equipment and Influenza Outbreaks, including Bird Flu (Avian Influenza)  has some great information by the USDA  on what equipment you should buy to protect yourself against the bird flu if you are a medical person, caring for an ill person in your home, or traveling outside in the case of a pandemic.  Most of it (surgical masks, surgical gloves) are readily available at pharmacies and medical supply stores and are intended for a one time use.  We intent to buy a supply and keep them in our emergency box.

I amy also use some to clean out the rat and skunk cages, if they block odor as well as germs.  LOL

Good info.  I am seriously looking into getting a supply of food stocked.  I don't normally think about this stuff but I am beginning to believe I need to.
