Feeling Happy

Noel the bat is free once more

After being lovingly hand fed all winter, Noel the Little Brown Bat is free again.  We hand fed him mealworms and crickets all winter--on the end of a pair of tweezers.  Three days ago I looked up and saw some bats wheeling through the twilight sky, so I brought him outside. I left his cage open, and a few minutes later he was outside flying around with two other bats.

It was a happy moment, to know that we were able to save his little life and return him to freedom.

We still have a small mealworm colony in the basement.  Noel had a hearty appetite--he ate fifteen to twenty mealworms a day!

This photo is of Zach, the little bat we had two summers ago.

That has to be a nice feeling to know you saved an animal and were able to make it free again.  :)

Way too cute. I just love bats. Then again, what little fuzzies and not so fuzzy don't I love? We had an itty bitty kitten show up on our doorstep last night! and a morning dove nesting in our gutter - how do they know? :)  Hugs, ~ L
