Horsebackriding in the Colorado mountains

Did I mention how incredibly friendly everyone was in Colorado?  It seemed that we met wonderful people every time we turned around....and most of them loved horses!  Colorado, like Kentucky, is horse country, and our common love of horses lead to some wonderful experiences while on vacation.

While in a grocery checkout line our first night in Colorado Springs, we saw a funny sign taped to the wall---it said "Colorado designated driver" and showed a dog riding a horse with a drunken cowboy behind him. We chuckled, and the cashier told us she had a horse, and so of course we told her about our horse, and then she shared her kids were in 4-H, and then we said we were also in 4-H...well, two other cashiers chimed in, and they all invited us to a horse show the next day.

We were feeling poorly from altitude sickness, but we went anyway. We could not find anyone who had invited us, but another family took a liking to the girls and the girls (Shelby included) watched the whole show from horse back--and Mandy got to go riding in the mountains!

It really was a wonderful beginning to our vacation!
