the continuation of the list

In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on.

-Robert Frost

This has become a very introspective process for me.  I am enjoying it, but I also find some of the memories painful.

Here's more:

272.  I once gave a deposition at a trial where a man drowned after he was thrown off a horse drawn carriage into the Ohio River. I was an expert witness as a carriage horse driver.

273. I know how to artificially inseminate horses.

274. I've been artificially inseminated (with my husband's semen) myself, so I know how the horses feel.

275. I've got a plant that has been part of my life since I was about ten years old. It is a very durable plant. It lives in my computer room right now.

276. Sometimes I still believe I can shapeshift by watching an animal long enough...I can feel it's breathing, it's bones, the way it moves.

277. I have held a newborn bat in my hands.

278. I used to play flag football in college. They called me Killer Miller.

279. This is a big one--my husband and I once got to drive Jane Goodall to the airport when she was in town.  Her plane was delayed so we had her all to ourselves for two hours!!!

280. The smell of Lysol reminds me of my Grandmother Mary.

281.  When I was small, I thought God swooped down to the steeple and collected all the money taken up by offerings.

282.  When I was little I used to see an older woman standing at the foot of my bed. Her clothes were raggedy but she had a nice smile and I was not afraid of her.  I quit seeing her when we moved up here when I was fourteen.

283. My first love's name was David. My husband's name is David. I dated a David in high school. My sister lived with a David who went nuts, drove a car onto Fountain Square and started shooting at people.  My former best friend's name is David (the one who molested Mandy).  I've dated four other Davids.

284.  I once worked at Arby's. This is where I saw the cut off thumb.

285. I once worked at McDonalds. It is the only job I ever walked off on.

286. I once worked at Roy Rogers. We were required to say "howdy partner!" to customers.

287. I was a telemarketer for about three weeks for Trane Air conditioning when I was about seventeen. This job sucked.

288. I worked for the Dean of Arts and Sciences when I was in college.

289. I love to rub the bellies of pregnant women.

290. I was engaged to another man when I met my husband.

291. I proposed to my husband.

292. I love Arabian horses, particularly bay Arabians.

293. I used to ride a grey Arabian who had been owned by Wayne Newton.

294. I like to look at outhouses. They amuse me.

295. I have worn my hair basically the same way since fourth grade.

296. I remember wanting to get pregnant, laying in the dark with my hand on my tummy, when I was thirteen.

297. My first pony had the oh so original name of Black Beauty.

298. I used to have a Major Thing for Mikhail Barishnikov's (spelling is phonetic) butt.

299. I also like Michelangelo's David's butt a great deal.

300. I name every one of the babies I lost.

301. I tried to commit suicide when I wasfourteen by taking eighty two aspirin. It made me very sick. I didn't tell anyone why I was so sick.

302. I have raised two litters of kittens on bottles.

303. I have raised a baby possum on a bottle. I found her in an alley in the city. I thought she was a beanie baby.

304, I took me six weeks to lose my first twins. I lost them in two separate miscarriages. The doctor told me they were doomed, but I stayed in bed the whole time crying and praying fiercely for their survival.

305. When Shelby's twin died I felt very sad but I was so relieved to see her little heart beating. I thought both babies had died. To see her moving on the ultrasound screen in the ER was such a relief.

306. A Cincinnati Bengal once picked me up and put me on the roof of an airport van.

307. When I plant things in my garden, I always plant a little jewel or coin or little thing with it to ease its spirit.

308. My great grandmother is a Cherokee from the Eastern Band, near the Qualla Boundary.

309. I have many relatives buried in the Mammoth Cave National Park.

310.  I like to draw horses. I cannot draw much of anything else, though.

311. I know how to make stained glass windows.

312. I have post traumatic stress disorder.

313. The first time I had a head injury I was three years old. I was in a coma for three weeks. They drilled three holes in the back of my fractured skull to release pressure.

314.  I only know a few telephone numbers. I have to look up numbers that I call all the time.I used to feel stupid about this. Now I think it is a head injury thing.

Jane Goodall, cool.  I had a boy named David who had a crush on me.  He was 15, I was 29.  Good thing I had some self control cuz he was a cutie!  Number 290 ~ I think we need the background on that one! :)  Google Al-Marah arabians.  That is where I worked for a while.

I've dated 4 different guys whose moms were named Debbie...

I knew I was supposed to be with my husband when I found out his moms name wasn't Debbie :)

    I love your lists...

I find them to be very insightful!

    Hugs,
    Jennifer

314 might be a head injury thing, I suppose. I am the same way. I have ZERO retention for numbers. I can't remember my husband's cell number. Hell, I don't know my OWN cell number (to be fair, I never call myself). ;-)  I was hit in the head with a baseball bat when I was in 4th grade. Are the math centers of the brain located right above the left eye?  lol
