Feeling Mischievous
Seen but not heard
One of the facts of existence as a homeschooling family is the unprecedented amount of time we spend together. It boggles the mind, but I do believe it has been at least a month or two since I have been somewhere sans children or husband.
Thus, any New and Unusual behavior by Mom is subject to a great deal of speculation and interest. Recently, after learning about email groups devoted to specific fictional characters and fanfic at the kids' Creative Writing group I joined a group . My children--and the children who are also attached to our family but are not Officially Mine-- are curious about this new interest. No doubt because sometimes my behavior directly affects them. My children are equestrians and martial artists after spending so much time in stables and dojos. Now they hang over my shoulder reading posts and email.
We are currently studying the Invasion of Iraq, and the abuses at the American run prisons, so Prisoner of Conscience has been an interesting and useful fictional portrayal of how easily power in the hands of certain types of people can be used to dehumanize other human beings.
Last night at dinner we were discussing governors, and pain linkages into brains. My husband suggested that without having governors available, we could use shock collars like they use for dogs with invisible fences to try to impose some order on our unruly children and their three dinner guests. (He is a sick man).
Tabitha, who is the dominant personality in the family (and perhaps someday the world) indignantly said that she would be the one in charge of people with governors. And, the twelve year old narrowed her eyes at me, "You know, Mom, Bond Involuntaries were meant to be seen and not heard."
Dear God. What have I created?

OH, be afraid of SHE who will rule the world one day! I think she is wonderful, what little I know of her. I managed to get out of the house without a single person with me last night. Wow! It was relaxing.
