walking in the woods

If it has been a long time since you went for a walk in the woods with a small child, I highly recommend it as a centering exercise. You will be unable to walk very quickly, but you will notice things that you probably would not see on your own.

I have to settle for walking in the woods with dogs - they also find things I wouldn't notice. Dead things mostly, lol!

We use a lot of guidebooks. It is a great way to learn about nature. They make a lot of wee ones that fit easily into a pocket or backpack...

Never ceases to amaze me -- what I'll see and what I'll learn (as a result of needing to exercise the brain with google!) when I take a nice walk in the woods.  But you, my dear, have taught me that my bumper crop of Jewel weed, which grows right smack at the edge of my lawn, can come in pretty  handy.  It does anyway -- we leave it because we love it!
