Drawn Together: Children' art and 9-11

I took the girls (and Sammy & Sierra) to see the current special exhibit at the Children's Museum. It is made up of art projects that children made in response to the bombing of the World Trade Centers.  After viewing the exhibits, the girls made art projects. Tabby made origami cranes. Shelby did some very fancy pictures for me.

My own children seemed to be more affected by MY grief and crying over the terrorism than by the actual loss of lives.  I was very vulnerable, and barely pregnant with Shelby at the time.  We did go out and buy a new flag the day after the attacks and put it up...and I remember Mandy drawing a picture of the planes...

People say that you always remember where your were when you first heard news of the disaster, I was in a argos store, a catologue shop and Jordan was a baby in his pushchair and there were a few of us huddling around a demonstration TV,watching the news unfold. It was the most awful thing I had ever seen, I thought it was a film at first then the reality hits you that you are watching people in their last moments. It still makes me cry to this day.Beckie, England.

I put up my grandfather's flag that had covered his casket.  He was a WW2, Kroea Vet. I lit a candle and placed it on my walk for weeks.  Sept is a very somber time of year here...we lost over 60 people from our county here in NY

I had just decided that I needed to decrease my morning tv intake when the towers were struck.  There went that idea!  I was glued and cried for days.  Emma was 9 months old.  She was fortunately too little to understand anything.
