Feeling Happy

Feline Friday--Himself, the Alley Prince of Newport

Late May my Amazonian warrior children were walking down an alley when they heard boys screaming in blood lust and a kitten screaming in terror. They rescued this feral kitten from boys who were stoning it...and the kitten came to live with us.

Most animals tell me their names within a day or so of arrival (I am the official animal-namer in this home). However, the kitten never told us his name, and we kept trying various names on for size.  Meanwhile, we kept calling the lynx-like kitten Him or Himself, and eventually that became his name.

We can spell it Hymn if we like, but Himself definitely has remained a bit feral, even though he is sweet and affectionate and demanding of attention at four AM. (Him is why I am awake right now.) He wants to be outside. Him wants to be a mighty hunter, and has brought us lots of mice. Him terrorizes the rats and mice. Him is a deadly attacker of toilet paper.

We are about to get him neutered. I have to admit, he has such cute little balls I feel badly about "fixing" Him, but he is beginning to spray and it is a necessity.

Him looking through the slats of the deck, contemplating the eighteen foot drop to the ground. An hour later, he leaped to the neighbors roof--and then down. Now he has to be banned from the deck.  Wild Boy.

It's Himself is it? Must have a touch of the Irish about him.

But, seriously, he does look a lot like Bandit at about the same age. I wonder if he will darken as much.

Oh my... We need to get Him and Spartacus together. They'd had a ball! Or a brawl! LOL! Sparty needs a frisky playmate. He's bored silly in our sedate and laid back little house. His feral side shows daily. I have the shredded rolls of TP to prove it. ;-)

Cute kitty.  At least getting him neutered will make sure he lives a bit of a longer life plus he can't get other kitties pregnant which is good for an outdoor cat.  My Star wasn't very happy after he was for awhile, but by the way he sometimes behaves you wouldn't know the difference.
