ProMeris Flea & Tick medicine

We were at the vet's emergency clinic until 1:00 in the morning and had to stay up all night last night with our elderly blind dog.

I bought ProMeris Flea & Tick medicine (the kind you put on the back of the neck). BOTH of our dogs had a bad reaction to it and we had to take the elderly one into the vet's in the middle of the night because she could not breathe.

The vet gave her what he hoped would be an antidote to the active ingredient and bathed her to get as much of the medicine off her as he could.

We were able to bring her home but we had to stay up all night with her and we still don't know if she is going to be okay. The other dog who is younger and stronger had a bad reaction to it as well but she seems to be doing okay.

I will never use it again.
I will stick with Frontline or Advantage.

Be VERY careful and check with your vet if you use it!!    ProMeris=scary

I used that on Penny right before she took a turn for the worse and had to be put to sleep!

After I read your email I immediately called my "dog" people and told them about this - I'm so sorry you and your kids had to go through but thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Linked to your blog through Lisa (wwfbison), and am grateful you highlight the dangers of ProMeris. I hope your dog makes a full recovery.
