So I got dumped......

Well, it has turned out to be a much better weekend than I expected, so far.........despite the fact that I have basically been dumped by my crazy friend of nearly 30 years. Suddenly after all this time, she has a life and is a social butterfly. I guess I have just fallen off the radar screen since she has been swept up in this flurry of activity. This is the third week in a row that she has canceled on me. She has been going to parties and weddings and murder trials, to brunch and bible study and open houses. I guess I just don't fall into her social circle anymore. Oh well. Frankly, I am not surprised. She has been totally swept off her feet with this new love of her life and nothing else matters anymore. I will just be interested in seeing how long it lasts. She just inherited a huge amount of $$$$, cars and a very nice house after daddy died a couple of months ago; I think the love affair will last as long as the money holds out. But it looks like I am no longer a part of it. Oh well. Too bad.
But...that being said. The weekend has turned out much better than I expected it to and I am feeling better. Hubby has been remarkably cooperative about the golf thing and he seems willing to give it a try (or at least he knows I will go totally ballistic if her doesn't). We got him a really nice bag and a set of second-hand clubs so he is good to go. We have been practicing every evening from 7:00 to 8:00 and we'll be ready to go out to the golf course some time next week. I hope it works. He might actually enjoy it if he would just give it a try.
Yesterday I went out on my own. I had lunch at a local bar called Icy's (yes there really is an Icy. She isthe owner, a tall voluptuous very Scandinavian looking blonde. It was pleasant. I had adelicious (but overpriced salad) and I almost ordered a beer but I thought better of it. It was very nice because it is a local place where people are friendly not because company policy says they have to be, they just are.
I went shopping at the local Goodwill stores and to WalMart. I hate Walmart but I just did not want to drive to the commissary. It turned out to be a bit of a pain though because they did not want to let me use hubby's credit card (which I always use for groceries) so I just paid the $20. Then when I pulled out my Amex card to pay for a $5 watch that I found, she never even looked at that card. Ridiculous.
When I got home, I didn't have to cook. Hubby said he would eat the leftover chili. That was fine with me. I had a BLT and he had the chili. Worked out just fine.
Today was nice too. It was a beautiful day. Not too hot at all. We drove into town and got Subway sandwiches and took Cookie to the park. I was afraid the park was going to be really crowded but it wasn't. There were a lot of people there but it wasn't mobbed (.It will be tomorrow.) Cookie had a nice walk and on the way back she got to visit with some kids and a couple of little dogs.
We stopped at the Goodwill store and I bought a shirt for $3.60, Hubby got 3 more really nice golf clubs for $2.50 each. That was a worthwhile visit.
We also stopped at Target. I just went in for shampoo (I have a really funny shampoo story...) but I found the sports bras that I really like were on sale so I bought a blue one. Shampoo story:
I ran out of shampoo this morning. The only shampoo that I could find was Cookie's Oatmeal shampoo. I thought...hey what the heck? It cost 6x what my cheapy shampoo costs and it leaves her shiny and smelling great so I used it And it was FABULOUS! My hair has never been so soft and shiny and it smelled wonderful! Dang. But I can't use her shampoo so I stopped at Target and bought some Pantene instead of the $1.50 stuff that I usually buy. I figure if doggie shampoo can be that nice, maybe some good people shampoo will be good too!
That's it. I made chicken pot pies for dinner and then we went out and practiced our golf for about an hour and a half. Now it is quiet and I could actually go to bed soon.
It turned out to be a pleasant weekend (even though I have officially been dumped. Sorry)
Gotta go.
Good night.

I hope Cookie didn't mind you using her shampoo! How funny, I will have to remember that since I have quite a hair care set for my pooches as well. I'm sorry to hear your friend has passed you by so many times. As I was reading about her inheritance I was thinking, hmmm, I hope someone isn't in this just for the money. I hope she doesn't get her heart broken. Glad hubby is putting forth an effort with the golf, enjoy!

I'm so glad your weekend has turned out better than you had thought it would. Hope today is as well. Sorry about crazy friend, that kind of thing stings, 30 years is a long friendship. Have a great Memorial Day!

Well, I am glad you had a nice weekend regardless of how your "friend" acted. I'll tell you, from the way you described her so far she didn't seem like much of a friend anyway. Thirty years is a long time though... I am sorry about that. (((HUGS))) -Missy http://journals.aol.com/ma241
