About the Artwork
Tamara de Lempicka, the leading Art Deco painter, painted elegant women who emanated allure. De Lempicka (1898 – 1980), who was born in Poland, lived in Russia before fleeing to Paris during the Bolshevik Revolution. A participant in the bohemian lifestyle she depicted, de Lempicka had many scandalous affairs which inspired her to create distinctive, Soft Cubism-styled art featuring precise structure and elements intended to arouse desire. Changing her style to abstract art in the 1960s, de Lempicka began creating works with a spatula.
This high-quality art print is expertly produced to capture the vivid color and exceptional detail of the original.

QUANTAS USED THE LOCKHEED CONSTELLATION: POSTERS AND MORE

Qantas Empire Airways Lockheed L1049 Super Constellation VH-EAD (c/n 4607) in flight above Sydney/Kingsford Smith airport in June 1958. The main runway at this time is 07/25, running from bottom left to top right in this photo. Below the aircraft, the Cooks River has been diverted (it used to run parallel to the shoreline and exit near where the nose of the aircraft is), but the extension into Botany Bay of the cross runway, 16/34, has not yet commenced. Above the aircraft is the terminal area, with the QEA maintenance area to the left.

VH-EAD, delivered as an L1049-E-55, was acquired by Qantas on 26 November 1955 and named Southern Dawn. It was modified to L1049E-01-55 standard, and later to L1049G. It was disposed of to Lockheed on 15 March 1960. It is seen here with a white uppper fuselage, red cheat-line and titling, and natural metal lower fuselage and wings.

THE CONNIE WAS DESIGNED BY KELLY JOHNSON...although there are several long-retired TWA employees who seem to think they own all of the rights and info on the Connie, the facts are: Kelly Johnson designed the plane. It wasn't Howard Hughes, it wasn't Hap Arnold or Billy Mitchell, it was Kelly Johnson, "SKONKWORKS" renamed "skunkworks" after too much confusion about the name.............
