RETURN TO VENICE WEST BY ROBERT L. HUFFSTUTTER

WHO WILL EVER FORGET THE FIRST TIME ONE SAW THE OCEAN? NOT ME. THE FIRST TIME I SAW THE PACIFIC OCEAN WAS IN JULY OF 1959. IT WAS FROM THE TOP OF A VERY STEEP HILL. THERE WAS SOME SMOG, BUT IT CLEARED AND WITHIN A FEW MINUTES I COULD SEE THE HORIZON OF THE BLUE PACIFIC. AT THE FOOT OF THE HILL WAS A LONG PIER THAT EXTENDED FAR OUT INTO THE OCEAN. THAT WAS MY FIRST VIEW OF THE PACIFIC OCEAN...MANHATTAN BEACH. I CAN STILL RECALL HOW FRESH THE AIR WAS, HOW FRESH THE WEST COAST WAS. BUT OF COURSE, THERE WAS SO MUCH TO SEE...AND SO MUCH TIME TO SPEND SEEING IT ALL. THAT WAS NEARLY FIFTY YEARS AGO. TIME FLIES. ROBERT L. HUFFSTUTTER

cruelty to animals includes the Pitt Bull...
COULD PART OF THE BLAME FOR THE VILE TREATMENT OF THE PITT BULL BE LINKED TO THE THOUSANDS OF CITIES, TOWNS AND COUNTIES THROUGHTOUT THE USA THAT HAVE PASSED LEGISLATION MAKING IT A CRIME TO CARE FOR AND HARBOR THIS BREED OF DOG WITHIN THEIR BOUNDARIES OR CITY LIMITS? IS IT NOT POSSIBLE THAT THIS BLANKET INDICTMENT OF AND DISCRIMINATION AGAINST THE PITT BULL BE A MAJOR CAUSE OF THIS DOG BEING TREATED IN A LESS THAN HUMAME MANNER, LAWS THAT HAVE LEGALLY ROBBED THE PITT BALL OF THE RESPECT DUE ANY ANIMAL. THUS, IN THE EYES OF MANY OF THOSE WHO HAVE LEGISLATED AGAINST THIS DOG, THERE IS A SINISTER GLEAM, I SUSPECT, THAT SUCH CRUELTY AND DISRESPECT FOR THE PITT BALL IS RIGHT AND JUST, THAT THIS DOG WITH A BAD ATTITUDE AND VIOLENT REPUTATION IS FINALLY GETTING ITS JUST DUES AND REWARDS. IN MY OPINION THIS DOES NOT EXCUSE ANYONE FOR INJURING OR TORTURING THE PITT BALL. AND KEEP IN MIND, ALSO, HOW MANY PITT BULLS HAVE BEEN INDISCRIMINATELY SHOT DEAD BY LAW ENFORCEMENT FOR SIMPLY EXHIBITING AN AGRESSIVENESS THEY HAVE BEEN TRAINED TO DEMONSTRATE WHEN BEING THREATENED.

WHEN WRITERS SUFFER FROM WRITER'S BLOCK...huffstutterr's AOL Pictures Public Gallery

WHEN WRITERS SUFFER FROM WRITER'S BLOCK
...they are probably spending too much time writing. In my opinion, writing consumes volumes of personal energy. In order to write a great novel, one must play tricks on one's mind. Writing a novel requires one to more or less live in a fantasy world while writing. Unless the writer is able to return to reality, the writer will suffer illusions of being one of the characters in the novel. To present a quick illustration of how being a writer can drive one to cross the line of mental health and never return, imagine you are the main character, either an adult male or an adult female. Imagine the main female character is a top fashion model; imagine the male character is an all-star sports figure, a football player, or better yet, for the purpose of this novel, a soccer player from South America. Let us now get down to the business of writing this novel that may be impossible to escape from.

Let us assume that one of main characters is named Adriana. Another leading character might be named Alberto Pacifico, a graduate of a small community college in Pine Top, Arkansas. That Alberto and Adriana would ever meet is almost an impossibility from the beginning. Nevertheless, they did meet, as fate would dictate, the two fell madly in love. There was one problem, however, that seemed to haunt their romance from the moment they met. Here we are, at the beginning of chapter one and the curiosity of the reader is already aroused. So, we are off to a stunningly clever beginning. But we have only just begun. Surely, this will be the kind of novel that will hit the best sellers lists from the moment Little, Brown and Atlantic ships it out of their press plant.
