Time has already written my presence in the shadows of autumn; and in the autumn of one's life, there is a certain longing for the more normal shadows of summer rather than the long and eerie shapes of shadows one sees and cannot escape in the autumn. Two Girls in a Forest (Zwei Mädchen im Wald)

Note the casual application of the oil, an almost abstract movement of beauty impossible for viewing unless one was there at the time of the painting; similar to Van Gogh's strokes in different works. Could it be, then, the origin of the popular adage, "different strokes for different folks."RLH
