Backwards is how I'll move...

With so much to write about I think I will start with today and move backwards in time!

We spent the weekend up at the lake at our cabin.  We have what's called a "dry cabin", meaning no plumbing (read between the lines: outhouse).  It's a wonderful place to be and we all love precious time spent at the lake.  From my bunk (it's a one room cabin, we all sleep in bunks!) I can see the lake.  This was my view of the beautiful sunrise from my bunk at 6 AM this morning:

Because this was sort of continuation for many people to be celebrating the 4th of July there were a lot of boats on the lake all weekend.  Lots of boats pulling tubes, wakeboards, etc.  Lots of fishing going on as well.  Our girls have always like to wakeboard, but it's better to wakeboard when the water isn't all choppy so the best time is early in the morning.

This the 8 AM view of the lake:

Then, this is Jessica at about 8:30 wakeboarding:

Yesterday (Saturday) Melissa drove up with little John Mark for the afternoon.  Her husband had to work, and we missed him, he's great fun on the lake!  Here's a couple pictures of Melissa, John Mark and Jessica.  Melissa, who is expecting again in November, is the one in the white hat!  That was a self portrait she left for me on my camera!

Now, going staying in reverse... Friday's mail brought me a large box from Cheryl, my Garden Swap partner!  She packed it full of a variety of garden theme items!  There was a bird cage, with a beautiful rose floral arrangement on top.  Then just crammed packed into the cage were gifts, all individually wrapped!  If it weren't almost 11 PM, I'd post a photo of each and every item!  But I'm pretty tired from a long weekend, so will show my favorites!  There was a fabulous little jar fairy:

A tin can tied up in gold ribbon that when I opened beautiful tissue buttons spilled out of!  I don't know what you call these, but I just love them and will use them in my various projects:

There was a vintage garden journal from 1975, that when I thumbed through the first thing that popped out at me was a story titled "Mole:  Friend or Foe"!  If you've followed me on my blog you KNOW I'm the family mole trapper!  They make such a huge mess of our gardens and yard!  I trapped 4 already, but number 5 and 6 are playing hard to get...I'm fighting and I WILL WIN!  Oh..back to the garden swap...

I just can't begin to list it all, but it was a fabulous swap!  Thank you, Cheryl!  Hopefully by now you've received what I sent to you!

Now, I'll skip all the way back to the Fourth of July!  We had a great, relaxing day here at home.  I decided to read my book and sunbath and sure enough, got a sun burn!  But the main event of the day was the barbeque! Yummy chicken, potato salad, corn on the cob, star shaped biscuits, and this for dessert: .

Yum!  Freshly made pound cake, sweetened whipped cream and raspberries from my garden. (Sorry to report, but the blueberries were from the freezer!).  Won't be much longer now and we'll be able to head over to Jensen's to pick blueberries!  Sue..let me know when they're "on"!

I made a batch of raspberry jam Friday before we left for the lake (yes, while I was "working"...no calls!).  Then when we came home today, another whole bunch of raspberries are ready to pick again!

Oh, back up one more day...on Thursday Melissa had jury duty so I got to have John Mark for a few short hours!  I left him alone in the kitchen for maybe ONE minute and when I turned around this is where he had climbed up into:

It's the drawer where I store my Tupperware lids (which were now on the floor!). I said, "John Mark" with a big grandma smile and he immediately reached up for me to hold him!

I love being a grandmother!

Now, tomorrow I promise to get back to my regularly scheduled arts and crafts blog entries...with...a story about the number 500.

Blessings!

*Heidi*

You have such a beautiful family.  Little John Mark looks is quite photogenic!  Looks like he must be a blast to spend time with.  I can't remember if I said this already but I received Under the Tuscan Sun and the adorable tag - the tag is so perfect - one of my very favorite pies is Shoofly!  I sent out your earrings last week so you should receive them within the next few days.
