"Everyday should be a Saturday"

...that's what my husband said today...  "Everyday should be a Saturday!"

We both started vacation, but we won't head up to our lake cabin for a day or two yet.  For the weekend we decided to just do fun stuff right here where we live.  Today we went to Bandon for dinner, fish and chips, eating right on the docks watching as the Coast Guard was doing some sort of rescue or boat search, (we couldn't figure out what the commotion was about)!

It was a beautiful day.  Here's a view of the bridge over the Coquille River:

We walked around some before we ordered our fish and chips.  The one store I want to mention is Bandon Art Supply.  It's down off a little side walkway, you might miss it if you don't know it's there.

This was a real treat!  Because we are on "vacation" I decided I should buy some souvenirs!  So, I bought some art supplies (I use special brushes when I paint my signs), some rubber stamps, two magazines and one book.  But the good news is, one of the magazines is the new Somerset Studio  "Artful Blogging" magazine!  I didn't think I'd get to see this for months.  And, lucky me, I was able to purchase it just a few days after it's put on for sale!  The other magazine is Somerset "Home", which is new to me!

The book I bought is "The French-Inspired Home". by Kaari Meng.  Earlier today I just finished up my brown-paper-bag-scrapbook for the swap I'm in.  The theme of the scrapbook is French Travel/Paris.  I'll try to post pictures of the finished project soon.  But today I bought this book because I am still sort of in the French mindset...bonjour, mon amis, and all that...and this book was written by the owner/creator of the store, "French General" and, well, I was just trying to tie up pieces of my life.  You know, connect the dots so to speak.  I made a French inspired brown-paper-bag-scrapbook, so I bought a French inspired home book... makes sense to me!

Back to the art supplies.  When I paint my hand painted "shabby style" signs, I have to use the finest artist brush I can find.  Today at the art store I bought a delicious sable brush!  Lovely!  I can hardly wait to use it, which I will, as I have several sign orders lined up!  (Thank you to all who have bought signs or ordered signs from me, both on ebay and Etsy!)  But, we are "on vacation", which is something I really have a difficult time doing.  I don't consider my sign painting "work", so how can I vacation from it?  Logistically speaking, I will have to take the break, as we'll head to the lake and it's very hard to bring all my supplies up there.  Here's a sign I painted yesterday:

But, while I'm at the lake I'll have a stack of books to read (novels, don't worry, I do read books, the ones with words and no pictures!  LOL) as well as my new stack of magazines and of course my French General book!  I'll lay in the sun, swim in the water, float on my "island" and eat Some-Mores at night while we gaze at the stars and tell stories around the campfire.  I won't be working (my job), I won't be painting my signs, and I won't be crafting.  I won't even have any kind of glue, E6100 included!  I will have my laptop, and my digital camera.  But it's dial-up network and because it's so slow I probably won't post, buy may check in here and there in blogland

Here's a picture to give you and idea of what I'll be doing...this is Jessica & I just last Saturday, yes it rained a little, but it was warm!  We had gone up to do a little work on the cabin, but quickly she & I left the work to Mark and went to play in the water!:

So there you have it.  I won't be here for a few days.  Or I might, we'll see.  Oh, on second thought, I think I will bring a brown-paper-bag-scrapbook and some glue with me too (Elieen's Designer Tacky Glue--the best glue I've used yet for paper) ...maybe it'll be a nature journal of some sort, as I don't have anyway to print pictures there.  I do promise to show my French Brownpaper Bag Scrapbook when I return!

Meanwile...for tomorrow...after church....I'm hearing rumors that we'll be at the ocean ...in wetsuits, myself included...something about boogie boards...which would be a first for me .... IF I DO IT!  But I'll feel sort of hypocritical if I don't try, since I just told you all to GO TRY SOMETHING NEW!

We'll see...or maybe you'll see!

Blessings!

*Heidi*

Heidi, just have a marvelous vacation! BonVoyage seems to be an appropriate thing to say, as you prepare to take off in your boat, music blaring, to your darling cabin! Happy, happy vacation! And I want to hear more about it and see more pictures!!!
