French Inspired Jewerly...Gotta love Amazon!

Really, you do...you gotta love Amazon! You buy one book and immediately they recommend another ten! I have Kaari Meng's first book, "French Inspired Home",
...and now today I have the next book in the series (I think it's a series, after all, there are two!) called "French Inspired Jewerly". I hesitated buying this book when it first came out, I'm not a jewerly maker, and I don't really wear much jewelry. Well, I do were bracelets and brooches! I just mean I don't wear fancy stuff, you know, diamonds! But then I remembered...was it not I, who had such a rough start learning to solder? Was it not me, that forged through the learning process and in the end was thankful I persevered? So, I bought the book....

So there you go, thanks Amazon, the book that arrived in my mail today! I'll let you know if I actually make anything. But if I don't, I can tell you know, it's a beautiful book, the images are gorgeous!
For Christmas I received several books. If you know me, you know I love books! I'll tell you about a few of them once in a while... Today I'm going to tell you about the one my oldest sister, Sue, gave me!
When I opened this book, "The Art of Personal Imagery" (by Corey Moortgat). I smiled real big. Then I said {how embarrassing...I said it out loud!}..."How and where did S get this book?" I'm still waiting for the answer! Did she search on Amazon for it? Did she actually go in that little art supply store in the little "by the sea" town of ours? I can't picture her even finding that store, let alone finding this book:
{Thank you, Sue, you just got bonus points!} It's all about the art of personal imagery. I have to tell you, and you probably know this because there's been mighty FEW sightings of me on my blog....but I try to stay away from the FRONT of the camera! I'd rather be the snapper! But after reading this book, I realize I could actually learn from a process of using images of myself in art! Corey's art is collage, mine is more altered art, could be collage, or maybe something else. But I'm going to try. And today I'm going to start by showing you a piece I painted, with a photo of ME! Yes, this is me:

I'll let you know how this personal imagery growth process through collaging art proceeds. Who knows what you might see of me next!
Now here's a fun activity for you to join in on...Shopping! Yes! Cindy has set up a virtual shopping trip for us all...shopping thrift stores! Between now and January 14 shop and then on January 14 post a picture of what you've purchased! Go check out Cindy's blog and let her know you're shopping, too! Grab her shopping "button" to post on your blog while you're there!
Sounds like fun. I'm going to take the challenge one step further and alter whatever it is I purchase! I'm inspired to do this after reading the article in the lasted issue of Somerset "Life" about buying one thing and painting one color on it to change it. (Check out "From Drab to Fab" on page 24.) Oh, if you don't have that magazine find one, it's a great issue! So many of our favorite bloggers/artist are included.

This Sunday is the day one of my other sisters, Roberta, runs a marathon at Disney World! Go cheer her on here!
I finished my set of 21 tags for the Valentine Tag Book Swap! They're cute, a mixture of vintage and grunge! I'll show them soon. Today I got my 10, well, 11, names for the "12 Days Hippity Hop Easter Swap". I'm day number 6, and will be making 11 of ...well, can't tell you yet... wait-watch-and see!
YO= "Yarn Over" .... Just wanted to show off a little crochet knowledge... Here's my scarf so far......

Now before you go off laughing, crocheting isn't as easy as those hookers make it seem... :)
I better stop now before I start talking about hookers....
Have a great evening!

I can't wait to join the virtual thrift shopping trip! I think your idea of altering your item is great! I'm thinking of buying 3 things: 1 to sell, 1 to keep, and 1 to give. Maybe I should add 1 to alter?

I can't wait to see what happens after you've had those books for awhile. You'll probably be making beautiful French jewelry soon.
Those hookers, they make it look so easy. LOL I really need to get back to my granny square blanket.
