Snowy Sunday
Yes! You read that title right! It was a snowy Sunday here on the Oregon coast! And, no, we don't usually get snow! It started snowing about 8:30 this morning and snowed on and off all day. Here's a picture of our home at about 2 PM as we returned from church (came home late today after a potluck and a business meeting):

When we got home we spend some time filling our firewood box up, it's been so cold here we've been burning through our firewood like crazy. Luckily, as you can see from all the trees in the background of the picture, we never have a shortage of firewood! It's now night and it's very quiet...that's what I remember from my childhood days of living in snow country, the snow is very quiet. I can hardly wait to take another picture of the house tomorrow, if in fact it does snow more tonight and the rain doesn't come and melt it all! You may think I'm a little too excited for snow, but remember, we live on the Oregon coast and we don't get snow!
Melissa called this afternoon and they are without power as a tree crashed into the power line right in front of their property. They will hopefully have it restored by tomorrow, but it won't be easy! It takes the power company way longer to respond to calls in the rural areas... She called again tonight and said she had a bunch of her wedding candles burning (from over 6 years ago!) for light and they were keeping warm from their wood stove. Her next plan was to eat all the ice cream in the freezer before it melted! A girl after heart...when the going gets rough eat all the ice cream!
Then I spent a little time this afternoon in my sewing/craft room making some felt and fabric lavender scented hearts. I filled them partially with lavender and added stuffing to puff them out. I dropped a couple drops of lavender scent on the stuffing to make double sure they had a wonderful lavender scent!

If you remember back in December I made four matching Christmasstockings....

...for my daughter up at college and her three apartment roommates. So now I thought it would be fun to use the same pink felt and floral fabric to make these scented hearts. I'm putting together a "little love" Valentine box for Jessica and her roommates, these lavender scented hearts sachets will be included with all the other Valentine goodies.
Yesterday Mark and I and my brother and his wife went riding in the sand dunes. We took our new jeep out there, and my brother and his wife had their jeep as well. It was fun to go in the dunes on a raining day and not get wet! There's been plenty of times I've been riding our 4-wheelers in the dunes and have gotten soaked. Here's a dune picture, (our's is the red one):

We stopped at a restaurant afterwards and I ordered "Croissant French Toast", which was delicious! They take a large croissant and split it open then dip it in egg batter and cook. It looks like a giant heart on your plate when served! I want to try to make that at home. My sister in law ordered hot chocolate with her food and this is how it arrived at the table, overflowing with whipped cream and chocolate chips sprinkle on top!
Hope you all have a great Monday!
Blessings!

Hi Heidi,
Your house looks beautiful in the snow - snow dusted on the trees, behind. The sachet hearts are pretty. Hope you're keeping warm. It's been pretty cold down here in ca, too. (Caught another cold ~ hoping it will pass quick.) Please tell Mark ~Happy Birthday~.
Love,

Heidi, I had to look at the jeep picture for a few minutes. I thought you has a picture of my brothers and his wife's jeeps. He has a red jeep but it is the bigger model and his wife has a black one with a hard top. They take theirs down to the central California coast all the time. What a coinkindink!
I love those pretty hearts you made too! -
Oh Heidi- you have me so craving hot chocolate now- I might have it with dinner!
