Vintage Flash Cards Tutorial
Beth, of Gathering Dust, asked how I make my vintage flash cards. I guess this will be a little tutorial for you. Remember, this is just how I make these, you can revise it to fit your needs, wants or supplies! I'd love to see any cards you make, so come back and show and tell me!
First I'll give you some details. The size I make these is 5" by 8ΒΌ". When I make this size I only get ONE flash card per paper. So, you might want to shrink it down to a size of 5" by 8" (I've made some this size too, not much difference and you get two cards per paper). I use a beige card stock (67 pounds), but you can use any card stock, I just used beige because I thought it gave it the more "vintage" color. The program I made these in is my trusty Microsoft Publisher. I've used that program forever and a day, and I know it inside and out. But you could make these on ANY program, it's only ONE word on a page! The font I used is called "Annual", and the size I used is 96. (You can just type in the size you want to get what you want. You don't have to use the increments the program has listed. Okay, so those are the simple details, and now we'll go on to my simple pictures!
MAKE YOUR WORD(s) ON YOUR COMPUTER:
PRINT IT OUT:
CUT IT OUT:
CUT TWO CORNERS, SLIGHTLY, ALWAYS CUTTING THEM ALL THE SAME:
GENTLY DISTRESS EDGES USING DISTRESS INK:
GO ALL THE WAY AROUND, MAKE AS DARK OR LIGHT AS YOU WANT:
WRAP IT UP AND FINISH IT OFF:

I have had a lot of fun making these. Oh, and in case you wonder what the number in the top left corner is, it's just the corresponding number of the alphabet to the first letter of the word. Remember, you can use any font, any size, any color, any ink, any word. It's fun!

Blog business: Jan, of The Polka Dot Barn, tagged me for 6 things (or was it 7, I'm going with 6) about myself. Here goes:
1) I'm a Big Kid now. (my sister Sallie always teased me growing up that I was one of the little kids. For my recent, ut-hum, 50th birthday, she "officially" gave me the title of Big Kid. I was delighted! I hope she doesn't mind me quoting her here: Here's your BIG present from me: I've decided to call you a "Big Kid" now! I just woke up this morning, and had new respect for you, now that you've worked so hard to achieve 50 years. So I decided to welcome you to the Big Kid Club, along with Susan, Sallie, Mike and Kathy!
2) I love junk.
3) I'm one of 6 sister (plus we have 3 brothers). Yeah, Big Family. Big.
4) I play the piano for our church Worship Team. I love playing, come visit our church if you're in Coos Bay! (Email me and I'll let you know where we are!) This picture is me at my brother's old upright piano (with candy in my mouth!):
And this picture is me at Melissa's old upright piano:
5) My favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13, "I can do everything through Him who gives me strength."
6) My other favorite Bible verse if Colossians 3:23, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not men"
7) I love my two grandchildren, John Mark-who turns 2 this month! and Ellie Grace-who is almost 4 months now!:

Oops...I did make it to 7 things! I now hereby am tagging these three blogers:

2. Heidi, of The Spiritual Knitter, who is in the adoption process and one of the sweetest bloggers you'll meet
3. Heidi, of Birds of a Feathers, who is very talented and I am always inspired by her blog
Don't you wish your name was Heidi? LOL Go ahead and list your 6 or 7 things about yourself anyway!
