the long and winding road

(or maybe the road less travelled)

Picture from Hometown

Despite all of the turmoil, it's still beautiful.  And the snow is deep.  I repeat myself.

meltdown

Picture from Hometown

While many were having meltdowns over the snow, parking, sidewalks and travel plans, this UPS driver, whose passenger door has frozen open, has a meltdown, courtesy of Starbuck's steaming hot water.

Good to know two of Seattle's bigger businesses are working together here in Boston!

the street where I live

Picture from Hometown

Where, oh where, has the pavement all gone?  Where, oh where can it be?

(and what is that blob of snow doing up at the top of the tree?)

the scream

Picture from Hometown

While this picture doesn't really show the massive amounts of snow (more to come later), it does describe the look of someone who has just come in from the blizzard!

overspending

Today is inauguration day.

We all remember Clinton's extravagant inauguration, where the bill, including security in and around Washington, totalled over $30 million.  Talk about overspending!

But wait.  This year's inauguration festivities for W are totalling around $40 million.  So you say, it's not that much different.  Yeah, but that doesn't include the security bill, which the Bush administration is making Washington, D.C. foot.  A city which voted a whopping 90% for Kerry is paying $12 million in security of their own city.  Which brings the total up to (drum roll please)....$52 million.

I don't want to hear another word about overspending from the other party.  It just isn't true.

just thinking

"To give up the task of reforming society is to give up one's responsibility as a free man."  --Alan Paton

drinking tea

"tea, a drink with jam and bread"

A word from one of my favorite people in history.  (In my top five "people with whom you'd like to have lunch--or tea--with.)

"Women are like tea bags.  Then don't know how strong they are until they get into hot water."

                   Eleanor Roosevelt
