The Obituary of the World

We Space Sailors have a saying, The human being would rather drive to Hell than walk to Heaven.

It seems to me a timely saying, our Earth less than sixty years from dying, the human being less than fifty years from extinction, World War Three a few coughs away, and the cause of it all when you get right down to it is the internal combustion engine.

Sure, to be sure, it is not that simple; there are many causes of Earth's death; but that's the center of the riddle of your approaching doom.
