Goodbye to Our Friend

God saw that you were getting tired
A cure was not to be
He put His arms around you
And whispered, “Come Home with Me.”
With tears, we watched you suffer
We saw you fade away
He put His arms around you
And took you far away
It broke our hearts to see you go
But now you are at rest
God will only take you
If you’re the very best
He put His arms around you
And made you Heaven’s guest
You eat now from the Tree of Life
And worship at God’s Throne
He put His arms around you
And whispered, “Welcome Home”
This entry is dedicated to the memory of our close friend, J. Steven Swager.
As things are anything but "Mobetta" this morning, I have allowed the title of this entry to stand on its own. Little did I know as I was writing my last entry, "What Would John Do?" that I would…, WE would, in fact, be so quickly given a reminder about issues that have a far more profound affect than a friend leaving AOL.
Warpy, as many of us had come to refer to Steve, has been a source of laughter, joy and always a warm smile for quite some time in the Pro Football chat. In my all too brief encounters with him, one incident clearly sticks out as the one that will be my lasting memory of him. One morning in our "Breakfast Club" gathering in Pro, Warpy and Softy were having a playful teasing argument, and Steve would taunt her, and then run behind me to hide. Of course, he wasn't satisfied with getting off one shot, and running to safety, he continued to throw jabs at her with me as his shield!
To me, this was Steve's essence: The quintessential playful child wrapped up in a grown man's body. You just couldn't help but smile when you were around him. His eternal inner child was exhaustively addictive to all who came in contact with him.
Please feel free to share your thoughts and feelings in the comments section of this entry.
Godspeed, Warpy!

WAR!!!! huuuuuh...yeah......what are you good for....absolutely everything!!
You brought passion to the room......a passion that was strong for your Chiefs even in spite of the trash talk you got from some of the loser Raider fans. You will be missed pal. But just keep that PC in heaven logged on so we know you are with us. Godspeed and hail to the Chief of Chiefs!!!!

War, I have always enjoyed our chats in profootball in the morning. You have always make the "Breakfast Club" fun and entertaining. You were a great person and will truly be missed but all. You made me laugh and smile as I know you did others. I am not one to express my words but do know this you will be missed and were loved by all. I consider you a friend and will miss our morning chats. My prayers are with your family in this time of need. I know you have found peace and are with God at this time and I know I will see you someday. Peace friend and love.

my favorite memory of Warpy, was during Fantasy football and I with the help of blk named my team...the Totem Burners...and I told Warpy...I had matches and knew how to use them...He and I joked about that one for weeks...I am thankful he got to win the bragging rights in our little league as the champ that he really is and will ALWAYS be...
You are truly missed by many of us that have been blessed to have known just a tiny part of who you are. I know you are having the best golf game of your life now. GOOOOOOOOOO Warpy!!! May God Bless you & your Family!!
((((((warpy))))))) I love you!! Peace dude ;)

I have not been in the Pro room for quite some time, but I knew Warpy. He was always fun and in our league he was sure to get a smile from what he wrote. It is always terribly sad when a friend dies... even if it is an Internet friend. My mother always tells me that Internet friends aren't real. I disagree. I have formed bonds with people that will last a lifetime. My prayers go out to his family and friends. He will be missed. Warpy... Say Hello to Zon for me OK?
Eag.
