no free downloads

you know I'm new at this whole computer thing and all I have been looking for is some free downloadable music for my computer but I think all of these places just say freee to get you in there and then they ask for crdit card numbers. I that free I ask you? no. Is it to much to ask for someone to give a little help for the techno impaired? I ask is there anyone who can help me?
