Second in the series of Photographs of Antelope Canyon

Picture from Hometown

Here is another shot of Antelope Canyon.  This photograph gives you an idea of the height of the canyon walls and the beauty of such a magical place.  Antelope Canyon is just one of the many incredible places to see right here in the U.S.    It is located on an indian reservation in Page, Arizona.  The best time to visit - for photographic reasons - is during the summer at mid-day, when the rays of sun come beaming in through the small openings at the top of the canyon.

This image was shot last week, but in February the sun is too low in the sky to send their rays of light through the canyon.  To compensate for the lack of light I used a tripod and slightly longer exposure to help illuminate the scene with natural light.

I have gone through Page many times and am from the spectacular town of Boulder, Utah 60 miles east of Bryce Canyon.  So I do love canyon pictures.  I came here from Greg's Kiser's journal and you are a spectactularly good photographer.  I just started taking pics for my journal begun last September and I am having fun taking shots.  I took quite a few great shots on my trip to Boulder in July of ledges in the town.  Sedona, of course, is totally glorious.  It reminds me of home.  I have lived in Arizona for 30 years and have become addicted to the beauties a little further south.  We took quite a long boat ride up Lake Powell and saw so many great sites I had never seen before, not having had the opportunity to get there so easily as we did by boat.  Gerry

That is a very pretty scene. You should send that to the AOL weekly contest of the best pictures of the week. Helen

I really do enjoy seeing pictures of these canyons.  The way the striations are make for a perfect picture.  You have chosen some excellent light for your exposures as well.
