Mr. Make it Happen,
What do you suggest for a 23 year-old aspiring female artist who has the talent to sing and songwrite, and is being invited to work on various local, (Los Angeles County) projects. Sometimes I get a hundred dollars a song, sometimes I don't get paid, it's nothing, I do it 'cause I love it, I have actively pursued music since 1999 (i.e. working with different producers on their projects in hopes that maybe they could help me with my project) , but I still haven't found the right chemistry (or made enough money) to "make it happen" for myself. I don't have one album recorded, Im ashamed to say.) I have found myself being a Hairstylist, because my Grandmother told me to do it, I do possess a knack for it, and I need the money, but it's not where my heart is. It's frustrating to go out in L.A. and Long Beach and have people think I'm already in the entertainment industry assuming that I model, sing, or act. Some swear they've seen my face before somewhere. They just don't know, one of those things I want more than the others. Plus I keep attracting these people who want to mix business with pleasure when I'm strictly business. And, no, I don't go to the studio dressed revealing, I rock t-shirts,jeans & sneakers or heels and I'm always on time. Got any advice? I'm not getting any younger.
Thanks for your time.
Sincerely,
Determined not to be Just a Hairdresser
