Good Evening Mr. Liles,
You are an inspiration, to not just young blacks, but to all people on acheiving your dreams. My name is Kevin Robinson, and like many other people producing and the business of music are my life. I have a 28 book library on different topics relating to the music business. I'm definately a student of this industry. I also suffer from sickle cell disease. Struggle and hard work have been apart of my whole life. My illness is under control now, and i'm going to be and inspiration to people with disabilities. I believe my life won't have meaning if I don't give back and help others along. I have been doing so and will continue to be an advocate for the disabled. I'm currently a student at B.M.C.C.. However, i'll soon be going to go to N.Y.U. to pursue a degree in music business management and piano performance.
I've been following your career since 1998, and I read your book. I'm not asking for any favors or a handout. I just want a chance to learn and prove myself. It would be my honor if you would allow me to be your intern. I would definitely make you a proud man, to mentor a fellow "kevin". I have learned alot from your experiences and I would love to get the chance to work for you. This would be another step to my calling. I'm going to make it in the music business, and I would love to learn more by working for you. Learning is the only pay I need.
Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. My e-mail address is bloodpressure01@aol.com
Thank you,
Kevin Robinson -
Would you be interested in speaking at Verbum Dei High School in Watts (CA)? If so, please call me at (M) 626-676-5123

Hello, My name is Danielle, I am 23 yrs old and singing and performing has always been a passion of mine since I was a little girl. Most of the time I sang in my church choir or church plays for Christmas and Easter. I didn't do talent showcases though. I sang and danced on camera for relatives on holidays or at birthday parties. I loved being in front of the camera, but as I got older and became a lot more interested in music, I never knew how to persue it. No one in my family knows anything about the music industry and on top of that, I live in a very small town, Canton, Ohio. I love to write songs, and I love to sing, the only thing is that I don't know anyone within the music industry, therefore I don't know anyone who can put music with my words. And I don't have money to go out and pay someone to produce music for me. So I sing all of my songs acapella to a melody that I produce in my head. I guess what I'm asking is what more can I do to get a record company to hear me, my songs are really good, I dont just sit down and make up stuff randomly, I talk about real things, real times, stuff that has went on in my life. I think a wide variety of people will be able to relate to my songs.
I put CD's together just with me singing my songs acapella and I was wondering if that was sufficient enough considering that I don't have any means of having someone produce it. And also, how do you go about submitting songs for an artist other than myself ? And finally, If you are reading this, thank you very much, and a response would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely, Danielle

My name is Anehcefe Gray. I am interested in what you have to say. Unfortunately I will not be able to make your seminar. (As much as I would like to) I am going to be working. However as you can tell I am reading and listening to the excerpts online. I chose to comment on this one because I understand what you were speaking about. Faith. I know that you are not a preacher but having faith in God (or a higher power) is just as strong or if not stronger as having faith in oneself.
I like what you are doing and more importantly why you are doing it. You will be here in Chicago on the 28th. May I suggest a college tour? Your history and background are just what college students need as a reality check for the real world. Once you cross the stage and have that degree in hand it doesn't guarantee a career. Graduates have that "false" sense of reality. I have been attempting to learn and then apply all my skills into the music industry as a project manager. Opportunities in this industry don't just rise they are created. If you have any advice for a soon to MBA marketing graduate on her next step PLEASE let me know so I can create opportunities the most effective way I can.
Thank you for what you are doing;
