Hello from Oakland Mr. Make it Happen!

    Question:

Part A: How did you justify within yourself all the free work you were giving away as an intern - i.e. you're making money for others, and utilizing your personal resources - besides the "it'll pay off in the end factor" - what makes you say even today, that you'd "put in another two years as an intern working for free?"  (Article quote is from DaveyD.com I think).

Part of the reason I'm asking this is to recruit/motivate interns who are kinda aghast at the thought of working for free - as well, with myself personally - I sometimes struggle with the thought of "giving it all away" to people who don't quite get or appreciate what I'm giving. Just curious as to what helped you to let go and still give it your all. Please bear in mind that the places this "free work" is being given isn't exactly Dreamworks or DefJam (i.e. it's not as successful), but it is a step on the path and a crucial step real life experience is...

Part B: How did you support yourself working for free?

Best Regards & Thanks in advance!
