Hi, I just have quick question.  I understand from reading your book (congratulations by the way) that you guys are still in control of the Def Jam brand.  I'm a fan the Def Jam Vendetta games, and I was wondering what sparked your interest in the video game industry?  I would also like to know if you guys have any plans for moving away from the model of simply licensing charcters and music, and moving into a more powerful role in the industry.  The video game industry, the music industry, and the movie industry all have very similar models, and most of the distribution channels seem to overlap anyway.  I was just curious if you guys were ever looking to expand beyond the licensing model.   This isn't a self-serving pitch by any means, but I'm asking because my company (Revelation Interactive) talked with Russell about this a couple of years ago when he was in Houston for the NAACP conference, and he seemed really interested in the opportunity.  He really liked our proposal, but we got lost in the shuffle (Rush was in the middle of an office move), and ended up having to deal with the CFO of Phat Farm at the time (Craig M.), but he was only interested in licensing the brand and music at the time (this was right before the release of the first Vendetta title).  I'm just wondering if you guys have really giving the option of becoming more involved on the backend some thought, or just simply investing in new intellecutual properties outside of the Defjam brand?  I know this is long but, please respond if you get a chance.  Thank You, and I and really did enjoy the book.  God bless you, and Good luck with everything!

    Hi Mr. Liles,
I've been listening to your Blog for the last couple of days.  I am not in the music industry or trying to be, but what you've had to say has so much value in any arena.   I am going out to get your book.  Since you're looking out for the community I think I can repay the favor by supporting you.

I would like to mention though that I would like to hear a little more about you and what you really face on the day to day.  How do you deal with difficult meetings and people, road blocks, what mistakes have you made and continue to make.  What are you working on improving in your life today and how are you going about it.  What are some of your time management techniques.  (Maybe all of this is in the book, we'll see).   In any event.  Thanks for being out there, we need you and more like you.

    Warm Regards,

    Nancy Pascal

Man I am going to have a great day today. Everyday I affirm what will be. We are a product of our attitudes and I have the attitude of a winner.

In 1889, millionaire industrialist Andrew Carnegie wrote an essay called "Gospel of Wealth." In it he said that the life of a wealthy person should have two periods: a time of acquiring wealth and one of redistributing it.

Mr. Liles you are in that second. I want to say thank you for supplying your time, attention, and resources.  Also, I want you to remember my name because I am the future! Ask Myorr J. about me...This is GEORGE HOUSTON ...GEORGE HOUSTON ...GEORGE HOUSTON ...GEORGE HOUSTON ...GEORGE HOUSTON ...GEORGE HOUSTON ...GEORGE HOUSTON ...GEORGE HOUSTON ...GEORGE HOUSTON ...GEORGE HOUSTON ...GEORGE HOUSTON ...GEORGE HOUSTON ...GEORGE HOUSTON ...GEORGE HOUSTON ...GEORGE HOUSTON ...GEORGE HOUSTON ...and I am turning contacts into contracts one boardroom at a time. So lets make it happen from the block to the boardroom.

    Mr. Liles,

I’d like to personally thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom through this blog. Also for writing such an informative and enlightening book on your experiences in life as well as the music business.

I purchased your book and found it so intriguing that I read it in 2 days. I also purchased copies for all the members of my staff, and anyone seeking an internship with my company must read your book first.

Your message on the amount of hard work, dedication and resourcefulness that it takes to really be successful in this business, is a message that truly needs to be heard.

I think it would be great if Oprah put your book on her list of must read books, for her book club.
Also if it would become required reading for music business courses at colleges and universities across the country.

The reason I can appreciate your work and its value, is because I believe that you have to go far above and beyond what other inviduals are willing to invest of themselves in order to be successful.

I have friends and associates who want to be in the business at the next level, but can’t understand why I fly around the country attending industry related conferences to meet and establish relationships with key people in the business.

A few weeks ago I did a 10 hour shift, then drove 12 hours straight to New York to hear Jimmy Douglass do a 1 hour panel on mixing, then turned around and drove 12 hours back to Detroit to make it in time for a benefit show one of my acts was performing on.

I believe that any opportunity to learn from the best in the business should not be passed by.

Thank you once again Mr. Liles, for your gift of knowledge, and for being such an inspiration. I will be promoting your book to the fullest in my area and every where I go.

    Peace
