KEVIN LILES & LYOR COHENS,
First, I want to congratulate Greg for winning. I think he is a very talented individual as well as Yancey. Secondly, Mr. Liles & Mr. Cohen's - What is it going to take to get more African-American males and females in power positions at these record labels and radio stations. It seems like the majority of people in the upper echelon are White and Jewish people who control black music. Personally, I see nothing wrong with White and Jewish people at the top of the corporate ladder but I know that many of these establishment preach diversity but there's only diversity at the bottom not the top. Do you think there is enough diversity at the top and if not, why do you think that is?
Thank You -
Hello again, I wanted to make a correction and apologize. My post was really intended for "beatnock'' it's just that I was going to respond to the both of them and got the names mixed up. Sorry , for the mix up and I didn't mean to offend anyone just trying to make it plain...

Hello everyone , I am posting in response to melodyoakley. I read what you posted and although I agreed with some things you said, some I did not! Since , this is a free public post and we are all speaking our minds, I will do the same. Your post stated that it was disrespectful for people to be seeking record deals and so on. I disagree, because everyone doesn't have the knowledge or connections needed to get in the business so they see this as an opportunity and a possible connect. Also, Kevin's blog is titled " Make it Happen" so many are simply trying to do so ? I think we all can appreciate and applaud Kevin's accomplishments. However, many at the same time have dreams and goals that they're trying to obtain. In addition, many have tried other means of making it happen and etc... So, naturally when they see someone who is a major mover & shaker in the music industry with a public blog they will attempt to make contacts. One thing I have learned and still learning is to truly not judge anyone because I am not perfect and I'm not all I could or should be... Lastly you never know someone's reasons for doing what they do ? there's always 2 sides. To the people who continue to post here in hopes of someone responding continue because I did and someone responded ! God is good ! Never let anyone tell you that you shouldn't be seeking to share your God given talents or even asking Kevin Liles for help. Who knows he might even respond, contrary to what some believe persistence does pay off.... -

While traditionally the entertainment industry has been handled primarily by white Jewish males, times are changing. The best way for African-Americans and any other minority to move up the corporate ladder is through education. There are several universities throughout the United States that offer Bachelor's degrees in music business and there are two universities that offer a Master of Music in Commercial Music, one in California and one in Florida. MY best advice to anyone pursuing an education is internships, internships, internships. While I don't particularly care for the work for free trend, it is a good way to get to know people, and it is truly all about "who you know." However, be sure that if you are to receive college credits for your internships, demand that you are learning something and not just pouring coffee. Feel free to contact me via e mail.
