Asian Art Month

Is the high street meeting the main street?  Sept is Asian art month, major auction houses are mounting Asian auction.   One house's preview shown this painting by Qi Baishi (1864-1957), estimates at $20,000 - $30,000, (there were few modern paintings by Chinese artists, one priced at up to $250,000).  Given the prominent status Qi enjoyed, this is a relative small amount.  But he was a prolific producer, and counterfeits are rampant.  Chinese music and art hasn't make any impact in the world.  Don't know if this Asian Century would bring more understanding hence acceptance by the world or branching out by the Chinese artists.  A friend of mine warned me that Qi's painting usually fetches in few thousands.  Oppps.  Master Piece at an Affordable Price, yuppppie.  Another one commented that IF this one a real, which it doesn't look genuine, would be in 100k range.
