Postponement
I deeply apologise to all the lovely people (where did that Beatles reference come from?) who took part in the first task.
Thanks to classes, I have no time to continue this tournament. I will post your results for those of you who turned in The First Task, but Journal Tournament V will restart at some future point when I am confident that I have the time to host it.
I AM SOOOOO SORRY! There is no excuse for things ending this way, but this time, they must.
Thank you for your understanding, patience, and good-will toward this struggling college student.
Regards, Kellen

delay
Thanks to the fact that college is what it is, I'm going to be no where near a computer for the next few days, which means a postponement of the beginning of the second task and results of the first task until early next week. I hope you all can understand.
Thanks for your patience!

oops??
Guido brought to my attention a possible mistake with question ten on the first task. The last number of the Social Security number might be a zero, not a dash. Since I did not write the question, I cannot confirm whether this is right or wrong. I actually don't even know for sure what the answer is. The zero instead of a dash is a very strong possibility.
I apologise for this confusion. Let me know if you have any more questions or concerns.

JOURNAL TOURNAMENT V is a three task tournament originally begun in November 2005. Over a period of time, participants will search through any source they can to find the answers to ten questions of varying topics. These questions are submitted by a deadline, scored, and the process is repeated twice. After three tasks, the totals are added up, and a winner is declared. This winner will receive an icon to place in their sidebar, and join the ranks of the winners gone before them. Join JOURNAL TOURNAMENT V for challenge, camaraderie, and fun! Registration deadline 16 September 2007 11:59pm CST. http://journals.aol.com/IrishEyes1929/JournalTournament
By entering your information you agree to these conditions:
1. No profane language or crude behavior. 2. You may use any information source to obtain answers to the questions for each task except other participants. 3. All answers must be submitted by the posted deadlines. 4. If have a particular problem beyond your control that keeps your answers from being submitted by the deadline, you may file for an extension, granted at my discretion. 5. Once questions are submitted, they are FINAL except for computer errors. Questions may be submitted blank, but they cannot be filled in later. 6. I reserve the right to remove anyone fromor penalize anyone for any reason at any time. My judgements are final. I will look at all sides in all circumstances and judge as fairly as I can, but in answers and any negative matters in the tournament, my word is final. 7. I reserve the right to add any rules and policies at any time without notice.
If you have any questions please contact me. I'm not trying to be a snob, but with hopefully large numbers, strict guidelines must be laid down.
If you are signing up, thanks for joining! If not, maybe next time. Good luck to everyone. Make sure you put this journal in your alerts and check back often, so you don't miss a single thing!

Description
Many people have asked for a description of coming events. That would probably be a good idea...I take it for granted that people know what I'm talking about. Here's a bit of history.
The Journal Tournament was an idea that was inspired by an online version of the Triwizard Tournament from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by dissendium.com back in November of 2005. Since then, we have had four Tournaments, and one "tester" to try out some new ideas. In The Journal Tournament, people from J-Land participate in a three task tournament. For each task, participants are asked what has traditionally become ten questions for five points each. They submit their answers by a certain date and time. Rankings are posted after each task, so you can see how you stack up to everyone else. Questions are a wide variety of random topics, usually whatever happens to be popping up in my life at that given time. Every tournament, the race is always a close race to the finish, and for the last tournament, we had to have a bonus round for three people to determine a winner. There are a list of winners from past tournaments in the sidebar.
If you have any more questions, I'd be happy to answer them. Just leave me a comment.
A link will be provided September 3rd to a registration form that you will be asked to fill out if you wish to participate. I usually ask for your first name, your screen name, your journal address, an E-Mail address, and some goofy question so I can get to know you a bit. After all, that is part of what the Tournament is about. Links will be provided for all participants to their journals in the "Other Journals" section, and you are encouraged to go explore the journals of your fellow participants.
LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOUR REGISTRATION SOMETIME AFTER SEPTEMBER 3rd!

Very soon!
Pretty quickly here, things will get underway with all the registration and avertisements for Journal Tournament V. The hold-up? I'm waiting on my laptop computer for college. With all the question typing and information I usually collect from you guys, as well as the database for scores and everything, I want to run it entirely from my laptop so I don't have to transfer anything or deal with any of that. As soon as the laptop is in hand, I will post registration dates and all sorts of things like that: hopefully within the next week(?)!!
Thanks for your patience.
