Happy Thursday

Sorry for the delay, I got home last friday late at night. They offer me first class seat again on the way home because of space in the regular class is limited.

I was pretty lazy all last weekend trying to catch up with all my sleep that I didn't get while in New York. Finally I was back to work on Monday, the week went pretty well and alot of things to do.

On Tuesday night Lori and Betty came down to take me to Applebee to eat dinner and to catch up. Then last night I got off the bus at Atlanta Bread Co and joined with my mom and her former co-worker at BTC Sandy and Gail for dinner.

Hope everyone have a great weekend.

2nd HKNC update

What a blast? We went to the Broadway mall on Friday night, the water park on saturday and to NYC on Sunday.

The line is so long at the water park so we only went on two slides.  but it was great to get in the water on a hot sunny day.

We went on a monster boat in NYC to the staue of liberity and we got soapy wet and it was so fun and fast.

It's raining outside today (monday) and we are staying on campus today.

HKNC Journal 1

I left the house around 3:30am to go to Milwaukee, WI. I flew on AirTran, with a non-stop flight from MKE to LGA.  When I board on the plane i sat in a row with 3 seat on each side. There is the next two passenger sat next to me. Spencer was sitting on the person feet because of limit space. The people working on the plane ask us to move to first class so we could give them more space and be comfortable.

I got to HKNC i saw alot of people that i already know from other places. I have a big responsbility here at Helen Keller National Center in NY. I'm a peer mentor, I have 8 students in the program that I'm responsible for. I have to make sure they all have equal access to communication, deal with homesick, problem, and being involve with the activiites.

So I'm really busy working all day making sure they are all doing ok and getting what they need. i have to lead a group project too. I'm having a lot of fun doing this because it's keeping me very active.

On Wednesday night we went and play laser tag and that was my first time playing. 9 teens and 3 SSP played the game. We played with the light on and it was so fun.

Mid Summer Update

Hello Everyone,

Sorry for the delay in updating this blog. I was been overload busy with people talking to me every minutes and i'm trying to do things with all that people around me. On June 27-July 5, I was at SUNY Brockport, NY for Camp Abilities. I was a one by one coach for a camper. It was a very busy week i work 14 hour a day and have to stay up late at night to do the coach paperwork and get some time to socialize with the other staff. I also get up early in the morning to workout before i start the day. It was a great time there. All flights was on time this year and everything went smooth

I was home late Saturday night watching the neighbor shoot fireworks. I did some laundry and unpack and repack. My family went to the Williams' house to swim and have dinner with them.

2nd & 3Rd day at work

On, Tuesday I have a couple helpdesk call. First I got a e-mail stating that when the client log on to the computer, then they get a blue screen. I went down and log on and it look nornal to me. My co-worker ask me to bring it back to the office. I brough it back and we look at it, try to do a hardware scan, nothing's wrong with it. We rebooted the system and notice the Dell screen and Window Xp Screen is blue not white. Now we figured out that the video card was no good. I replaced it and send it back and they were happy with it.

I then organize the office and tried a new CCTV that we got. It work great and I don't think I'll ever use it. It'll be siting on my desk.

On Wednesday, I walk in and notice I got a list of projects to do for the summer. I then found a printer that need to be assign to a lab. I though it'll be easy to do and get that done. But it wasn't the way I expect it. I have to dig into the server to see what IP address i could give the printer, and set it up and add it to the server. Then took it over and remove the old one.

Then I notice I have to move all the printer from the old server to the new server which is not easy to do. I left them on the old one so people can still use them until we are ready to remove the server from the rack.  It was a little frustrated today trying to figure out how to do this. I get all kind of e-mails, I get UW system all related to hub and power etc, helpdesk, the spam fiter server, and the state staff list. This is a good experience for me, and this is more what I would like to do for my job but I'd rather work for a federal government agency.

First Day At Work!

I am working at Wisconsin Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired (WCBVI) as a IT Intern. I do all kind of IT admin work, help desk call, and more.

Here's some pictures of my office.

This is my work statioons, I use two computers with a swtich that can hold up to eight computers at a time. I only need one montior, mouse, and keyboard for all of them.

My first project after I get my computer all set up with my e-mails and profile. I have to replace a CD-ROM to a DVD-ROM in 24 computers. When I found out I need one more DVD-ROM, my boss will say "wow! you move too fast."

Also I also have to add one more RAM slot in each new computer to make it work faster and better.

I got a help desk call later in the day, I have to troubleshoot what is causing the lines on the screen. We tried a couple things and then I decided to swtich the video card, and it work great.

The higher flood

We never got this amount of water in the past 100 years, and now it's covering up alot of city business and streets.

My old friend from the blind school Peggy Banks and I went around Beloit and Janesville and took some pictures. A security guy was telling us a story about a sofa flooding in the river and got stuck somewhere. We see fish swimming in the street and alot of sidewalk by the river are cover of water. Janesville floods are worse than Beloit.

(Note: 36 pictures)

Father Day Weekend

First week back home went by well.

Last Saturday was Nick's Meier's my neighbor's Graduation party. It was raining hard at the party but the good things we can walk back and forth to the party and home.

Yesterday (sunday), my dad invited his sisters, and his parents down here for father day. thankful the weather was very nice. My grandma enjoy bowling on Wii with me. she did very well on her first game. We play 3 games and she scored 113, 123, then 147 with two strikes. She really enjoy it and want to keep playing.  All my aunts tried the WiiFit with my parents and Betty now want to get one for herself.  We had a little of the Whiskey that I brought home from Ireland.

Looking forward for a fun enjoyable summer.
