Feeling Happy

Yard Sales/ Thrift Stores

(Wish I had seen this casket first!)

For you Yard Sale thrift shop folks, what is the best bargain you ever got?

I think the best buy my sister Kat ever got was my Greek Sailor hat. The first one I ever had was purchased at ‘Mystic harbor’ in Connecticut. Marked down from $79 to $25. I splurged and bought it. I wore it out. Sister Kat and Sherry found one in a thrift store for fifty cents, like new, only it was three sizes too big. I actually cut it down to fit. I have worn it now for many many years. It is my trade mark. I have had very many compliments on it, even once was stopped by a gentleman in a Greek harbor town, and asked if he could take my picture. I look like a Greek sea captain with my beard and hat. I was asked once if I slept in the hat. LOL.

I once bought a $200 power panel for $15. Of course we search for books as a priority. Living in a Motor Home, you do not accumulate much. We have one (Not too stringent rule) Something IN? then something OUT! We do pretty well stick to it.

I will lighten the load this summer of the Drawing stuff. I will leave it here and only entertain in the NC area, If I do at all. It is hard to believe but I (we) carry about 125 pounds of gear in and out at each performance. At this age it can be tiring.

Well I guess I have rambled enough. Thanks for coming by the Log. I appreciate it.

PS:

Live long and prosper!

Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?

A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't
waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer?
Take a nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?

A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system.

Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.

I think the best item i got at a yard sale was a space heater for five bucks. the kids got a router and a modem for dsl hookup at a yard sale for 7 dollars.

when we were strolling along the shops in Brindisi  I saw the cutest doll. it was a little guy in a karate gee he had almond shaped eyes and dark hair with bangs, i wanted it but the ex said no too expensive.
Over 20 years latter i am in alabama and a lady is selling the same doll for 35 dollars. it was in brand new condition. she bought it in Italy when she was a collector she said. Since the hubby who said no , was nothing more than a bad memory i said gotta have it ! so i bought it!  lol

We could set up a permanent yard sale and you could entertain the lookers
with your chalk drawings.  Better still maybe hire a body guard to carry it to and from your performance.   When I was down sizing in Charlotte Jack organized
the largest yard sale  in Belmont of one person's things  (MINE) Can't forget that one. One person said who do I pay Jack said you want believe this is from one person.   My brother can do anything.

Looking around I can't honestly say which one of our purchases would be my favorite. Almost everything we own came from yard sales, thrift stores, auctions, or flea markets. They have served us well over the years so I guess all of it special to me.
