Feeling Pleased

WE are RV'ing, it used to be camping!

Yeah here I sit, thinking about a Log entry and I should be writing a book. Trouble is in the book, my man Sticky is stuck trying to prove himself innocent of embezzling 42 million dollars. I got him in the mess, just can’t get him out.

(Tent camping in the Blue Ridge, note the 'little' BEAR!)

Over the past 50+ years of camping and RV’ing we have witnessed a great change in campers and attitudes. When we first started camping no one would think about walking through your camp sight unless invited. You could leave your most valuable possessions in a tent with no worries. Things have changed in camping as in the rest of life.

(I built this Pop-Up. Camping on the Blue Ridge Parkway)

In Florida we have had folks come strolling right thru the site. I have heard of things being stolen, we have never had anything missing from our RV site.

(Then we bought a used Sears Fold-out, and went to California, this was at the Grand Canyon)

There were break in’s of sorts in Florida. Most of us lock our doors at night but not necessarily the windows.

The incident involved the thieves pulling the picnic tables up to windows (RV windows are pretty high) , climbing up, sliding the window open and reaching in to get what ever they could. One lady lost her purse, the purse was found behind our RV, minus the cash. Things they are a changing.

(Next was the VW POP-UP Camper)

(then the tag along, then the Ranger Mini Motor Home, then the Overland, Now the Monaco. System quit letting me upload pictures, maybe more later.)

Speaking of changing. Sherry and I have a 1995 Honda which we tow. I tell her we will get a large comfortable ‘quiet car’ (so I can hear) when we retire. She informs me every time I say that, “Honey, we ARE RETIRED!”

“AW, you know what I mean!”

(one more, this is the Overland in the Badlands, towing the Honda)

Now with gas/diesel prices soaring (have you noticed?) that is not a good idea. Maybe we had better get scooters.

Once in Alaska Dick and I saw a Hummer for sale for $100,000 +. I don’t know if that is normal or not, but now a 2007 sells was advertised, for about $20,000 used. Or if you want a Porshe, sold new for $72,000, now used, $8,000.

I fear some folk who never could drive a Caddy or Lincoln will now find them within their price range and get one. But when it comes for filling them up or repairing them, will be unable to handle that end of it. Oh well, not our problem, right?

Thanks for coming this way!

WEDDING DRESS FOR SALE .

Worn by mistake. Call June

Strange facts… & …. Wonders…

In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.
***********************

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

Who was the first person to look at a cow and say, "I think I'll squeeze these dangly things here and drink whatever comes out?"

The car never runs out of gas going down hill.

I loved the pictures of your various "RV's" over the years; I know you were happy in all of them, but I'm betting you were the happiest in that pop-up you built yourself. I loved the bear; a little too close for my comfort

that is sad that people now look for ways to break into motor homes; is nothing sacred any more ? (apparently not)

had to laugh, my 19 y/o son drives a 1993 Cadillac; his choice!!!!! he runs on fumes a lot these days or the kindness of his parents who always tend to fill that vehicle up whenever we are by him; got to say though, that is one smooth ride

enjoy your time on your current adventure :)

Boy have you come up in the world.  You are moving on up.  I remember
the camping trip we went on 25 miles straight up the mountain.  The bears
wanted our food we tried to scare him away but he would not leave.  The
game warden came and said he would not leave because his baby had climbed
up the tree.  We all stayed back the baby came down and left with its mother and
we still had our food.  It was the Hinetoogahs (Spell check didn't know what I was trying to spell) and neither did I.
