I'm stunned! There were no snide remarks and no insults concerning my Evolution of a Faux Cowboy photos. I guess those people who thought badly of me kept it to themselves. I appreciate all the kind & gracious comments, which were an immense ego boost for this ancient relic.
I'm admittedly unnerved, however, at everyone who thought I should keep my dirty boots off the clean bed. It never even occurred to me. Well, look at the bright side - if I had been bootless in the photo, it would have completely shattered my cowboy image.
A few comments on the comments:
L.A. nurse Pam thought I had a "Come and get me" kind of look while reclining on the day bed. I guess that's preferable to the "Please embalm me" look that I have when I wake up in the morning.
Remo is aptly observant. That is indeed a genuine Billy Jack hat I'm wearing in the Hollywood Hippie photo (everyone under forty is saying "Who the hell is Billy Jack?").
In keeping with the Faux Cowboy theme, I decided not to use any photos of me playing the piano. Someday I will. Maybe.
Those are sunglasses I'm wearing, not tinted glasses.
Oh, by the way - - color photography was in existence when I was in high school. I have senior pictures of myself in color (honest) but I liked the black & white one the best. The photographer was NOT Matthew Brady.........in case you were wondering.
I've decided to break yet another one of my blog rules. I've decided to finally populate the Other Journals list on my side bar. This will make it easier for me to access you. The list is by no means complete, and it's not in any particular order. Don't be offended if you're listed last. Also, if you're not listed at all, let me know. I just might squeeze you in.
Some of the journals I read are private, so I didn't list them. You know who you are - Kat, Remo, Pam, Kathy, etc.
And for those of you who won't let me see your privates (private journals, that is!) - - A HUNGARIAN POX ON YOU AND YOUR PETS.
You know who you are.
I know for a fact that Hungarian poxes are the worst kind.
I haven't had time to do much blog reading lately, but I do my best. Often I'll make a quick run through Blogland without leaving any comments.
While I'm on the subject of journals, a few more random thoughts:
When I began blogging several years ago, I vowed to keep the format of my journal clean & simple, with no ostentatious color or clutter. As AOL eventually simplified (?!?) the blogging process, I became more tempted to add a few things on my sidebar.
Since this semi-epistle professes to be a Lone Star Concerto. I felt compelled to raise the Texas flag.
Since journal sidebars abound with awards, I thought I should have one, too. The Pawprint of Approval Award seems suitable enough.
The black & white cat signifies nothing more than the fact that I reside with a black & white cat. If the cat's been on my sidebar too long, it's because I'm too lazy to remove him.
I've maintained the yellow & maroon colors on my blog solely to placate Arizona Anne, who seems to think they compliment the colors on the shirt I'm wearing in the side bar photo (Saturday's Child is the only person I know who's obsessed with the significance of colors on blogs).
Someday I'll return to the bland sepia tone that I personally prefer. Sorry, Anne.
There! Now that I've said all this, I can finally get back to writing about my usual topics: Texas storms, excursions to Wal-Mart, Texas sunsets, gigs at piano bars, Texas wind, subtle allusions to moonlit romantic trysts, and the relentless taunting of global warming enthusiasts (it is their unbridled ANGER that is warming the earth.....) Should I insert a small smile here?
Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL.com.

Hon, you could leave your hat (and your boots) on. ;-) Your last post is proof positive that evolution is a very good thing.

Hey, thanks for putting me on the ol' side bar. (maybe one day, I'll make it right out in front). I know that didn't make a helluva lot of sense...I'm tired. Anyway, it reminds me to update MY sidebar. Hmmm...
Thanks!
Nancy

Hello to my midnight cowboy...
Here I am again your #1 fan. I think that your photo is quite wonderful. Tom Selleck, Clint Eastwood couldn't hold a candle to you. I have you listed on my side bar as well don't worry. You are always welcome to my place....always. I always try to come and visit you as you know. I also try to leave you a comment or two. You do deserve "The Pawprint of Approval Award". I think that you deserve quite a few awards. I like the cat its quite cute. Don't change a think my midnight cowboy not at all.
You always have a huge from me (((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))) and more ((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))). Take care.
