surtax for paying for better hospitalization for veterans and peopl the military
Isn’t time to enact a surtax for the sole purpose of paying for better hospitalization for veterans and people in the military? Beds, now empty, in private and public hospitals and health facilities could be paid for until federal facilities are brought up to snuff. Bonds could finance immediate aid and new construction. The bonds would be retired by the surtax. If the surtax idea is popular another one could be used to pay for the war itself. If upper and middle classes had to pay for the war it would make it more likely that we leave Iraq or stay only as a relatively smaller part of a broader international force.
If you like this idea get a bunch of people together to speak to your represenatives in Congress. Write, also, although many representatives don't understand their mail. Write me, too, at jdmar58@juno.com, please.
